Principal Responsibilities:

+ Oversee both the property and fund level accounting teams, including close supervision of staff and senior accountants as they carry out day-to-day accounting and reporting functions, perform detailed review and approval of monthly property level financial reporting packages, and provide guidance throughout the annual budget process and external audit and tax compliance engagements.

+ Manage the financial statement rollup and consolidation process and prepare investment/fund vehicle financial statements in accordance with applicable accounting standards (GAAP, fair value, and tax basis).

+ Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end closings with proper documentation and reporting.

+ Assist with preparation of the annual enterprise-wide business plan and monitor budget execution and control.

+ Help administer the cash management function for the organization that optimizes investor returns while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and avoidance of unfavorable tax consequences. Cash management responsibilities involve coordinating capital calls and distributions through multilayered ownership structures.

+ Coordinate investor reporting, including ensuring compliance with deadlines for submitting financial statements, completing investor questionnaires, and responding to investor questions related to performance and financial statement matters.

+ Assist the asset management team with coordination of quarterly property appraisals and administer the underlying fair value accounting process, ensuring compliance with authoritative guidance regarding methodology and financial statement disclosures.

+ Coordinate annual external audit and tax compliance engagements with third party accounting firms.

+ Act as a point of contact for the asset management and property management teams for all accounting related matters.

+ Ensure compliance with established internal controls, policies, and procedures, while assisting with implementation of new processes and controls where necessary.

+ Assist with incorporation and implementation of new technical accounting developments and regulatory changes into current policies and procedures.

+ Assist with oversight of the company’s treasury management function, including lead role in administering online banking portals.

+ Serve as a lead administrator for the company’s Yardi system.

+ Provide oversight, guidance, coaching and training to staff and senior accountants.


Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required:

+ Bachelor’s degree in accounting required.

+ Senior Accountant level experience required. Real estate private equity concentration a plus.

+ Experience with fund accounting and institutional investor reporting preferred but not required.

+ CPA preferred but not required.

+ Significant experience with major accounting software packages, Yardi familiarity a plus.

+ Highly analytical, strong written and verbal communication, resourceful, and confident.
