Job Description

Scope:

The Preclinical Development group at Wave Life Sciences is looking for an experienced, highly motivated MS/BS level scientist to join the Investigative Toxicology group in Lexington, MA. The candidate will work closely internally with Toxicology, Biomarkers and Bioanalytical, In Vivo Pharmacology, Chemistry, Biology teams and the external CROs to conduct investigative toxicology activities to understand class-related and compound-specific toxicities. The candidate will provide technical support to the conduct of in vitro and in vivo toxicology studies and support operational activities within Preclinical Development.

Responsibilities:

* Generate innovative experimental designs for mechanistic toxicology studies intended to assess hypotheses for and evaluate mechanisms of toxicity

* Design and execute predictive toxicology screening efforts (in vitro cell culture based, ex vivo screening assays or animal models of disease) to generate safety-related data to drive decisions.

* Plan and conduct investigative toxicology studies, based on off & on-target safety profiles of the candidate drugs to help with candidate drug selection and to understand class-related and compound-specific toxicities

* Participate in issue-management teams by contributing to the design and execution of experimental strategy/and plan to progress molecules into further development

* Communicate results clearly and concisely in both oral and written reports

Education / Experience:

* MS/BS/BA in a scientific discipline required

* Minimum 3 years of experience for MS and 5-8 years of relevant experience for BS/BA level candidates preferably in pharmaceutical/biotech industry

* In-depth experience with state of the art cell/molecular biology techniques

* Experience with oligonucleotide research highly desirable

* Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment with frequent course corrections

* Excellent interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills
