Department Summary

The mission of the Resource Development (RD) department is to advance the organization's strategic goals and support our worldwide team by raising flexible funds, profile and influence. The RD team encompasses several dozen dynamic professionals who possess a wide range of skills. We are gift officers, direct response fundraisers, web developers, marketers and media relations strategists. We are database managers, digital specialists, creative designers, storytellers and teachers. Most of all, we are passionate about Mercy Corps' mission and believe a better world is possible.

General Position Summary

The Brand Asset Specialist will collaborate closely with the Brand Team to oversee Mercy Corps' asset management systems for maximum efficiency and liaison with platform vendors and key users to ensure optimal performance. The position will manage our three platforms:

* Identity Central: Manage the digital asset management platform.

* Online Store: Manage day-to-day oversight of our promotional products store for internal teams and employees.

* Airflow: Manage the raw video file storage platform.

Essential Job Responsibilities

* Work to understand current systems, processes, taxonomies, and user needs.

* Work to find solutions for bugs, optimize processes, and address system failures with the vendors and Brand Team.

* Identify and develop best practices given Mercy Corps' communication and dissemination needs, in partnership with stakeholders.

* Become proficient in current asset management systems; understand and work within existing templates but also know when to coordinate with vendors to request new features.

* Develop, communicate, and implement a plan for system refinements, updates, archiving and backup systems and strategies.

* Design system training approach and documentation for users.

* Provide project management assistance on related initiatives and projects.

to our beneficiaries and to international standards guiding international relief and development work, while actively engaging beneficiary communities as equal partners in the design, monitoring and evaluation of our field projects.

Reports Directly To: Marketing Project Manager

Works Directly With: Marketing Project Manager, Photo Editor, Project Managers, Creative Team and Content Producers

Knowledge and Experience

* Bachelor's degree, or 2-5 years of progressive work-related experience in digital asset management or project management.

* Experience working with a digital asset management system, image database, content management system, or related experience in managing and resolving issues with digital asset management systems.

* Demonstrated experience in organizing or planning metadata taxonomies.

* Demonstrated ability to maintain a consistent, high-quality customer-focused orientation with regard to asset tagging and metadata strategy.

* Knowledge of user experience, navigation and digital file types.

* Experience with Adobe Creative Suite and Photo Mechanic is preferred.

* Experience with vendor management is preferred.

* Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills for the purpose of providing information to vendors and team members.

* Demonstrated attention to detail, follow through and effective organizational and time management skills.

Success Factors

A successful Brand Asset Specialist is capable of making quick decisions and juggling multiple projects while stewarding brand assets for the agency. S/he must demonstrate flexibility in planning and problem solving, will have proven ability to learn quickly, take initiative, and be accountable for results in a fast-paced, fluid and challenging work environment of many competing and changing priorities. S/he handles feedback with patience, professionalism and good humor. S/he will possess excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and will place a high priority on attention to detail and organization. A successful Brand Asset Specialist operates effectively in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial, and dynamic creative environment. This person will be able to work independently and cooperatively, and will accurately represent Mercy Corps and our brand at all times.

Living Conditions / Environmental Conditions

The position is based in Portland, OR and it may require up to 20% domestic travel.
