Business Analyst

Summary

Ambulatory Access Analytics (AAA) is looking for a business analyst to join our team of data analytic experts. The ideal candidate has a knack for seeing solutions in expansive data sets and the business mindset to convert insights into strategic opportunities to improve patient access to care. Candidate must have the ability to analyze multiple data sets, identify trends, and explore relationships across the data. Candidate must be able to use advanced data and predictive modeling and analytical techniques to interpret key findings to leverage into initiatives that will support business outcomes.

Key Functions and Expected Performances:

  1. Build, develop, and maintain data models, data automation, dashboards and performance metrics to support key business decisions
  2. Aggregate data from different sources and perform analysis as per business requirements
  3. Researches business problems and quickly understands the issues and data challenges of organization
  4. Identifies issues, gathers facts to resolve technical and operational problems
  5. Proactively monitor performance and improvement initiatives to support elevated performance
  6. Understand business problems and opportunities and recommend solutions that enable the organization to achieve its patient access to care goals
  7. Apply process improvement methods applicable to the field and designs plans for implementation
  8. Communicate results and business impacts of insight initiatives to stakeholders within and outside of Patient Access Services (PAS)
  9. Identifies issues, gathers facts to resolve technical and operational problems
  10. Develop programs or queries to retrieve and analyze data for projects, program, and/or reports
  11. Gather data using data mining techniques and tools, analyze information, develop conclusions, communicate recommendations clearly and work effectively with others on a team
  12. Effectively translate complex data and analyses to all levels within the organization


Qualifications ( Required):

  • Bachelors degree
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience
  • Sound problem solving, quantitative and analytical abilities
  • Strong SQL skills, ability to perform effective querying involving multiple tables and subqueries
  • Data visualization using tools such as Tableau and SAP Business Objects
  • Experience with Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Extremely strong problem solving skills with the ability to break down a complex multi-factorial problem into discreet steps, determine the analytics needed to solve each step, then create outputs to help drive action
  • Positive, people-oriented, entrepreneurial, and energetic attitude
  • Demonstrate good team building and leadership skills
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously

Preferred:

  • Passionate about healthcare industry (Prior experience in hospitals or healthcare is strongly preferred - not mandatory)
  • Process or operations improvement and project management knowledge
  • Familiarity with complexity associated with patient access to care
  • Epic Applications Certification/Proficiency in Cadence, Radar, Workbench, Prelude, etc
Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent experience) and 3 years experience

Licensure, Certification, and/or Registration (LCR):

    • Occasional: Standing: Remaining on one's feet without moving.
    • Occasional: Walking: Moving about on foot.
    • Occasional: Lifting under 35 lbs: Raising and lowering objects under 35 lbs from one level to another
    • Occasional: Push/Pull: Exerting force to move objects away from or toward.
    • Occasional: Bending/Stooping: Trunk bending downward and forward by bending spine at waist requiring full use of lower extremities and back muscles
    • Occasional: Reaching below shoulders: Extending arms in any direction below shoulders.
    • Occasional: Handling: Seizing, holding, grasping, turning or otherwise working with hand or hands.


    Sensory

    • Occasional: Vision: Clarity of near vision at 20 inches or less and far vision at 20 feet or more with depth perception, peripheral vision, color vision.
    • Frequent: Noise: May include exposure to occupational noise levels which equal or exceed an 8-hr time-weighted average of 85 decibels, requiring enrollment in VUMC's Hearing Conservation Program which includes training, use of hearing protection, and periodic audiometry.
    • Continuous: Communication: Expressing or exchanging written/verbal/electronic information.


    Environmental Conditions

    • Occasional: Chemicals and Gasses: Medications, cleaning chemicals, oxygen, other medical gases used in work area.
