COBOL CICS Trade Service Applications Software Engineer, Assistant Vice President

The role can be based in any of these office locations: Monterey Park (CA), San Diego (CA) Tempe (AZ), Jersey City (NJ)

Job Summary:

Provide high technical level for Operating System Support, CICS/MQ, Informatica ETL, Websphere or Java. Maintain and manage all aspects of activities to support business application systems subsystems. Manage activities to refresh, test and implement updates IBM and custom middleware, or third part vendor software on a regular basis. Provide system programming support for developers that require assistance in mainframe programming, CICS online systems, or batch subsystems or Informatica ETL. Provide support and problem resolution for the most complex and difficult areas of assigned system which includes mainframe operating systems Assume complete responsibility for the development and/or implementation of the most complex software/hardware projects. Provide highly technical support, training and assistance to developers or junior members of the team and Operating System users.

Primary Responsibilities:

* Responsible for installation and implementation of IBM or AIX Operating System software, program products, and OEM program products.

* Provide plans and procedures for installation, testing, and implementation of system software and program products.

* Prepare change notification and documentation for system software.

* Coordinate efforts with other personnel.

* Provide plans and procedures for installation, testing and implementation of system software and program product maintenance.

* Provide similar functions in CICS/MQ subsystems, storage subsystems and batch interface subsystems.

* Interface with hosted application vendors for upcoming technology and application releases, production issues, diagnosis and other situations.

* Provide guidance to vendors, as well as provide an interface among multiple vendors.

* Maintain good working relationships with vendors and support personnel.

* Keep informed of new developments in new technologies.

* Seek additional training and development courses.

* Stay in touch with peers and end users.

* Support the consultative relationships with key business stakeholders, proactively identifying and addressing advanced analytics needs to meet business, regulatory and compliance requirements within the Commercial Trade finance and Commercial Card IT systems area.

* Provide support to develop and design presentations, reports, and other deliverables to communicate findings and make recommendations

* Support Lead Software Engineer on project deliverables and business support issues.

* Expected to be on call after hours for potential production support Tier 3 issues and occasional weekend code deployment or support work.


* Bachelor's Degree Business Information systems, Data Science, Computer Science or in "STEM" Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) or related preferred.

* Minimum 5+ years of experience in designing, developing, implementing and maintaining business applications and system to system real time and batch data interfaces. Minimum 5+ years of experience in leading multi-discipline technical teams with hands-on experience in leading teams of both full time and contract employees

* Agile Scrum project methodology a plus.

* Experience in Mainframe CICS, JCL, VSAM and Java, Oracle, Informatica ETL preferred. Experience in highly distributed complex business and technology environments and emerging technologies

* Experience with IT infrastructure, IT application technologies and frameworks

* Proven ability to execute high-profile projects and to provide thought leadership to an organization

* Proven track record working with technical, customer, and functional teams

* Strong communication and persuasion skills, including the ability to create messaging materials that meet stakeholder preferences, including ability to present concepts verbally

* Ability to work in a fast-paced, global environment with multiple priorities that require superior project management and decision-making capabilities

* Ability to establish mutually productive and positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders

* Ability to influence non-technical aspects of technology change (e.g. business and operational architectures)

* Ability to break down complex requirements into meaningful, structured and actionable parts

* Ability to analyze complex organizational and technical issues related to technology and identifies opportunities to improve performance and efficiency
