Baylor Scott and White Medical Center

and Texas A&M University College of Medicine seeks an accomplished Board

Certified Intensivist (Surgery, Pulmonary or Anesthesiology) to fill the

position of Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit (CTICU) Medical Director within

the Department of Surgery at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center - Temple. This is a full-time physician leadership role

with significant clinical responsibilities in the practice of Cardiovascular

and Cardiothoracic Intensive Care.

CT ICU Medical Director

provides medical supervision of the intensivists and professional staff in

association with the appropriate Department Chairs and assist in oversight of

the delivery of care throughout Cardiothoracic and Cardiovascular Intensive

Care Unit. This position will work closely with the Associate Executive

Director of Perioperative Services and/or the Nursing Director of Adult ICU’s,

and serve as chief liaison with the other physicians and Departments that

provide direct patient care. This position will also serve as a CTICU

intensivist that provides direct patient care as appropriate and requested.

CT ICU Medical director candidates

should possess current certification by their subspecialty board, and have at

least 5-10 yr experience in providing quality of care

at a high-volume cardiovascular surgery program. rendered to patients by

professional staff. The Medical Director provides clinical direction and guidance

for clinical activities of physicians, including medical students, interns, and

residents that may serve in the Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit. An

academic appointment through the Texas A&M University College of Medicine

will be granted on appointment.

The Cardiothoracic Surgery Division

presently consists of 3 cardiac surgeons, 2 general thoracic surgeons, 9

mid-level physician assistants/nurse practitioners, and 4 transplant/VAD

coordinators. The Division performs over 600 cardiac cases and 300 thoracic

cases per year including coronary revascularization, valve repair and

replacements. The Division has several advanced cardiothoracic surgical

programs, including Heart/Lung Transplantation, mechanical assist device

(HeartMate II), TAVR, a Center for Aortic Disease, adult ECMO, and minimally

invasive and robotic thoracic surgery. Baylor

Scott & White Medical Center – Temple has ACGME accredited residency

programs including General Surgery and Anesthesiology. The Department of

Anesthesiology has an advanced fellowship in Cardiac Anesthesiology.

+ BoardCertified in Critical Care Medicine (Surgery, Anesthesiology or Pulmonary)

+ Have a minimum of 5-10 years of successful CT ICU experience at a high-volume cardiovascular surgery program

+ Have at least 3 to 5 years of leadership experience

+ Possesses a valid and unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of Texas

+ **Strong interpersonal skills and recognition by the medical community**

+ **Ability to effectively communicate with the patients/ families, physicians, staff, and the general public**
