The Finance Department of the University encompasses the Controller's Office and the Office of Budget, Treasury and Research Administration. These offices are dedicated to ensuring the integrity of data submitted, recorded and reported and to providing the highest level of financial services in support of the University's mission in Biomedical Research.
Will work as the main University Cashier and provide support to the Treasury. Will be responsible for maintaining the policies and procedures required for internal cash control. Will cover all cashiering duties for the University's cashier window between 10 AM and 1 PM (receipt of checks and cash, disbursement of petty cash, Metro card and stamp sales, traveler checks, etc.), Responsibilities include daily reconciliation of the petty cash drawer, preparation of bank deposits, remote input of checks received using bank linked scanner, and maintenance of appropriate cash balance and change order for the cashier window. Will also provide direct support to the university's treasury department in the form of additional bookkeeping duties, including but not limited to, reconciliation of credit cards, personal accounts, rental receipts, and activity from various departments. Will train A/P Analysts for backup cashier functions, run monthly cash receipts summary report, run and distribute chart of accounts, create journal entry logbook sheets and file all Finance Office journal entries. Will input batch wire transfers for accounts payable processing in Oracle and initiate wire transfers and provide support for NIH fund drawdowns through the Division of Pay Management (DPM).
Bachelor's degree and experience in bookkeeping or accounting with previous cashiering or teller duties preferred. Must be able to use a calculator, type, and be comfortable with computer data entry. Must have excellent telephone, interpersonal, and written communication skills, as well as a strong command of the English language. Must have strong customer service skills to provide courteous and friendly service and a strong sense of professionalism.
