Job Title: Catholic Religious Coordinator Based at: Virginia Beach, VAJob Summary: FAR Government inc, is looking for a Part-time Catholic Religious Coordinator for the support of Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek-Fort Story (JEBLCFS) Chapel’s Command Religious Program.


QUALIFICATIONS:


+ Must have 1-year minimum experience as a volunteer or contract religious ministry professional serving within a DoD sponsored religious ministry program. Must be familiar with Navy equal opportunity policies and the pluralistic nature and requirements of working with staff and volunteers in a Navy chapel program


+ A minimum of one (1) year experience in teaching children in Catholic Religious Education.


+ A minimum of three (3) years of experience with Catholic ministries.


DUTIES: The candidate will be responsible for,


+ Develop, plan, and recommend programs and methods to meet the religious education needs of the Catholic families and single active-duty members of the JEBLCFS Chapel Community to include, but not be limited to the following: Registration of students, Liaison between parents, students, and volunteer teachers. First Holy Communion, First Penance, and Confirmation. Management of progress, attendance, and disciplinary matters Special attention to students with learning disabilities. Provide special classes as needed to prepare students for the Sacraments. Shall coordinate with the Senior RP to ensure all paperwork required by the Archdiocese for Military Services in the recording of Baptisms, First Communions, and Confirmations is completed correctly, copies made, and originals mailed.


+ Investigate new approaches to Religious Education and methods consistent with the cultural and educational environment of the Navy community. Shall also advise as to appropriate curriculum materials for Catholic Education programs and the usage of such materials from the USCCB Listing of Catechetical Text.


+ Provide for continuous teacher recruitment and training and leadership development for teachers, assistant teachers, office coordinators, and social coordinators to ensure adequate volunteer/staff personnel competence. Shall ensure that all teachers are Certified Catechist and that all volunteers have had Protecting God’s Children Training in compliance with the Catholic Bishops Dallas Charter.


+ Supervise classes of instruction for approximate students from pre-school through high school age. Classes shall be held on Sundays.


+ Coordinate and supervise Adult Education Classes to include Confirmation preparations, RCIA Program, and Baptismal Preparation Classes for parents. Recruit and train Extraordinary Ministers of Communion for all Catholic Masses.


+ Shall design, prepare, and coordinate the curriculum calendar of classes and academic/religious events observed throughout the calendar year.


+ Set up and maintain a schedule that shall meet the needs of each facet of religious education regarding the time and place for workshop training, teachers’ meetings, parent conferences, and special events observing the Catholic religious holidays.


+ Conduct interviews of parents for registration regarding the placement of their children as to the proper level of Catholic Religious Education.


+ Prepare a line item annual estimated budget of expenses for the Catholic Religious Education and Youth Program.


+ In conjunction with Command Chaplain, outline plans, request funds, procure supplies and arrange for space/area used for a Christmas Pageant and Annual Sacramental Celebrations.
