Job Description

The College Transition and Success Advisor is a full-time, 12-month position with duties shared between the TRIO Upward Bound Project (50%) and Enrollment Management (50%). The College Transition and Success Advisor (CTSA) will guide Upward Bound high school seniors through each step of the college admissions and financial aid application processes, facilitating their successful transition to college. The CTSA will also be part of the Enrollment Management Division serving as a point of contact on campus to ensure all students are connected to appropriate resources, through annual events such as Orientation and Truman Week, as well as yearlong through coordination of services across various offices.Upward Bound AdvisingUse a case management approach to coordinate and oversee the holistic provision of services to students across multiple areas (academic, financial, social, personal, etc.) in order to increase college preparation, enrollment, retention and successSupport and guide students as they explore colleges, prepare applications, complete financial aid applications, and enroll in post-secondary programs of studyMonitor and document the utilization of services and progress towards goals, with frequent outreach to and follow up with students and familiesCoordinate Bridge to College summer programming to support successful transition from high school to college for recent graduatesFor Upward Bound: Travel 3-4 afternoons/evenings per week (2:30-6:30pm) during the academic year to meet with high school students in afterschool meetingsOffice of Admissions Visit Team MemberReport to the Assistant Director of Admissions Campus Events and VisitsServe on the Visit Team with the Assistant Director of Admissions Campus Events and Visits and the Campus Visit CoordinatorMonitor the Weekday Visit Evaluations, both individual, group, and group visits. Follow-up on evaluations, as needed.Maintain documentation of event/visit program responsibility processes (Student Ambassadors, Visits, Orientation, etc.) for future referenceOrientation CoordinatorServe on the Orientation Planning Team in developing and implementing plans for the Universitys summer orientation program for first-year studentsCoordinate and confirm details of events including session locations, room reservations, catering, signage, orientation packets, etc.Regularly monitor and report on Orientation RSVPs beginning in mid-March through JuneCoordinate the freshman and transfer pre-orientation/pre-enrollment processesCollaborate with staff responsible for pre-orientation material processing to ensure timely delivery of advising files and incomplete communicationImplement processes for processing returned questionnaires and placement exams, preparing materials for enrollment of students through the Center for Academic ExcellenceWork with the Processing Team with the preparation, printing and mailing of appropriate materialsCoordinate digital and hard-copy mailings related to orientation including the initial information packet, confirmation mailings, and survey collectionProvide support to the Admissions Counselor on the Visit Team responsible for coordinator of Orientation Leader TeamNew Student Programs SupportServe on the Truman Week CommitteeServe on the College Cup subcommittee responsible for the planning and implementation of the College Cup during Truman WeekServe as backup to Admissions Counselor on Move-In Day CommitteeCampus Event Primary AssistantProvide support to the Assistant Director of Admission Campus Events and Visits to plan and organize event activities including, but not limited to, annual Showcases, Admitted Student Events, and other Special EventsRequired QualificationsBachelors degreeExceptional communication skills (written and oral) and a strong commitment to customer service and relationship-building;Evidence of successful interactions with people from diverse backgrounds and age levelsAbility to work in a collaborative environment within the Un
