The Major League Baseball Players Association's communications intern will gain valuable communications/public relations experience working within a preeminent sports labor and marketing organization. Reporting to the director and assistant director of communications, the communications intern will be involved with the MLBPA's day-to-day media, public relations and marketing communications activities, supporting the communications objectives of the Association's labor, licensing, and not-for-profit activities. These activities will include, but not be limited to, copy writing for MLBPLAYERS.com, PlayersTrust.org and ActionTeam.org, news monitoring, press release and PSA distribution, social media account coordination, story development, coordination and placement in various media, and marketing communications and promotion in support of the Players Choice licensing program and the Major League Baseball Players Trust.
Eligible candidates should be on track to obtain a degree in public relations, communications and/or sports management, and should possess excellent written and verbal communications skills, outstanding interpersonal skills, experience working with the Microsoft suite of programs (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Publisher), graphic design/image editing using PhotoShop, working knowledge of various social networking sites and applications including Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, etc. and experience using the Internet as a communications and research tool. Experience with content management systems (e.g., Titan, Word Press), video editing software and knowledge of Major League Baseball is helpful. Recent graduates may apply.
