Department: Grants- CFCE Job Title: Part-time CFCE Group Facilitator FLSA Status:

(Exempt/Non-exempt)Reports to: Beverly Mobilia, Coordinator, Community Partnerships for Children and Families general description (1-3 lines describing role): (Pending Grant Approval)

Group facilitator for Community Partnerships for Children and Families which provides outreach and support to all families with children ages birth through 8 years in Newton, Wayland and Weston. Promotes family literacy, early literacy, school readiness and healthy child development through parent/child groups, developmental and parent education workshops and resource/referral information. Program is funded by a grant from the Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care.

Qualifications: Early Childhood degree and or experience working with parents and children, birth to 5 years old in a group setting.

* Experience working with ethnically and economically diverse families.

* Strong knowledge of child growth and development birth to 5 years.

* Ability to effectively communicate and interact with parents, children and staff.

* Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

* Ability to converse in Spanish is a plus

* Pass a CORI and SORI check. ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES (not limited to): Recognize parents as their child's first & primary teacher.

* Facilitate parent/child programs and playgroups, for children ages 0-5, using developmentally appropriate curriculum, and offering workshops for caregivers

* Integrate Strengthening Families content and parent support into playgroup routines.

* Share the Ages & Stages Developmental Questionnaire and other developmental information with families.

* Provide parents with resources and referrals as necessary.

* Support parents, guardians, caregivers and children as they engage with the group.

* Encourage all children to play cooperatively and encourage the involvement of families to strengthen the relationships between children, families and community.

* Maintain a positive, safe, productive environment during every playgroup.

* Maintain playgroup attendance records.

* Work with Coordinator to maintain a system for data collection and resource and referral information.

* Maintain MA211 and Brain Building in Progress Websites and social media platforms.

* Work cooperatively in a team.

* Participate in professional development trainings and staff meetings.

* Availability to conduct/attend events occasionally at night and on a weekend.

* Adhere to Newton Public School's policies and procedures.

Work Environment & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Work Environment:

Office space, play space, rooms in public libraries, groups off- site included

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to carry playgroup materials to off- site events, and be able to get down on floor and children's level

for activities.

Range 19 hours per week, about 34 weeks, at $25 per hour.
