The Community Support Professional (CSP) will support individuals with disabilities in leading self-directed lives. CSP will collaborate with individuals and others to plan and implement supports that build upon individual strengths, choices and capabilities. CSP will also develop and expand meaningful community opportunities. Community Support Professional will work with the supervisor on developing and implementing an effective plan, and will ensure compliance with OPWDD regulations, agency policies, and agency values.
+ Supports individual with disabilities in becoming valued members of their communities.
+ Supports behavior that enhances inclusion in their communities.
+ Provide direct training and support in individuals’ home and/or community.
+ Empowers individual and their family by providing the support and information necessary to make informed choices and decisions.
+ Helps build the self–esteem and assertiveness necessary to lead a self-determining life.
+ Use formal and informal methods to learn about the needs, interests and desires of individual.
+ Assists individual in identifying the formal and informal supports available in his/her community, family and social network and works with the individual to develop and sustain relationships with friends, family and community members.
+ Assists the individual in managing every day aspects of life by utilizing habilitative strategies and providing supports in a manner that builds on individual strengths and capabilities and maximizes choices.
+ Pursues opportunities for professional growth and shares knowledge and resources with others.
+ Assists the individual to overcome challenges through effective advocacy and the facilitation of self-advocacy.
+ Uses appropriate and safe strategies for crisis prevention, intervention and follow up.
+ Actively contributes to advancing the mission, goals and organizational life of AHRC, as well as individual he/she supports.
+ Completes necessary documentation in an efficient and timely manner.
+ Ensures that program remains in compliance with OPWDD regulations, agency philosophies, and policies.
+ Facilitates effective communication with employees and outside agencies for ongoing development of community opportunities.
+ Participates in any special case conference, staff and parent meetings as appropriate.
The following requirements are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability needed:
+ Understanding of Person Centered Planning.
+ Reasonable flexibility in work hours and ability to respond to the scheduling needs of the individual. May include early morning, evening and/or weekend hours.
+ Ability to establish and maintain a working relationship with program participants, families, staff and community agencies.
+ Ability to communicate both orally and in written form in English.
+ Ability to organize work with self and others.Salary: $15.00 Per Hour

+ High School or better
+ Associates or better
+ American Sign Language highly preferred.
+ Working with people having intellectual and developmental disabilities.
