Northrop Grumman Mission Systems has an exciting new opportunity for a Chief Mission Architect! Our ideal candidate will provide our Maritime/Land Systems and Sensors (M/LSS) division with technical leadership in the development of strategic technologies, concept of operations, mission system architectures and technology development roadmaps in support of M/LSS customer capability needs.


The position will be based in greater Washington DC, Maryland, Virginia (DMV) area or Charlottesville, VA and will report to the Vice President M/LSS Engineering and Sciences and directly serve and work with the Vice President of M/LSS Strategy and Mission Solutions and staff to address the technology and capability needs of M/LSS Naval (USN/USMC/USCG) customers.


**Roles and responsibilities include the following:**


+ Working across NGMS Divisions and NGC Sectors to develop, coordinate, and assess CONOPS and supporting discriminating technologies and capabilities in support of Naval customer capability needs


+ Stakeholder in the AOP and LRSP process, driving alignment of division, BU and OU Independent Research and Development (IR&D) investment and Contract Research and Development (CR&D) pursuit


+ Stakeholder in Naval systems focused division, business unit, and operating unit research and development (R&D)


+ Provide division inputs to the annual sector IR&D planning process that are aligned to the maritime systems domain


+ Active participation in the talent acquisition required to execute the business growth


+ Fostering and maintaining external customer relationships in industry, academia, and the customer community (e.g., Universities, Federally Funded Research and Development Centers (FFRDC), and Warfare Centers)


+ Direct liaison with ECD on M/LSS technology development needs and priorities


+ Develops division Technology Roadmap for Naval systems. Applies creativity and vision for the future that require synthesis of related disciplines and technologies.


+ Provides teams with internal and external knowledge of the technical industry and how it impacts the company.


+ Working within the M/LSS Division, and BUs, and coordinating with the Emerging Capabilities Division (as appropriate), provide support for capture activities Contract Research & Development (CR&D) and production programs) to include:


+ Concept development


+ Customer shaping


+ Bid and Proposals


**A successful candidate should possess the following attributes:**


**B** **asic Qualifications:**


+ 20+ Years with BS; 18+ Years with Masters; 15+ Years with PhD


+ An active Secret clearance and ability to obtain a Top Secret/SCI Clearance


+ Design, development, fielding and/or operation of maritime systems and sensors


+ Strong familiarity with the M/LSS lines of business, existing customer community and new pursuits, and relevant industrial, academic, and scientific communities


+ Demonstrated performance in developing customer relationships, shaping capture opportunities, and successfully capturing the resulting opportunities


+ Experience successfully coordinating technology and capability development from R&D to a production organization


+ Experience in maritime system prototyping and demonstrations


+ Travel about 25% as needed to support customer engagements and division requirements


**Preferred Qualifications:**


+ Demonstrated experience with:


+ Development and/or employment of Assured Position, Navigation and Time (A/PNT) solutions with an emphasis on maritime position, navigation and timing sensors/technologies and their operational usage for surface and subsurface vessels.


+ Autonomous solution implementations for shipboard navigation and Hull, Mechanical and Electrical (HM&E) systems (e.g. propulsion and machinery controls).


+ Implementation of Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning (AI/ML) approaches to support unmanned solutions.


+ Navigation as a Service architectures and solutions


+ Shipboard integration of C5I, Combat System and/or Machinery Controls solutions Development and/or employment of Advanced Power Solutions including Integrated Power and Energy Systems (IPES), Prime Power Systems, Embedded Power Conversion, Propulsion Motor Drives, and Electric Plant Controls.


Salary Range: $183,600.00 - $275,400.00


Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
