We are a Fortune 500 Retail company that is enjoying consistent growth. With over 1, 200 stores in 36 states, we rely heavily on the efficiency of our data centers to support our ability to open over 100 new stores a year.
This has created the need for Controls Engineer in our Distribution Center 15 miles south of Charlotte, NC. This is a key role as you will optimize and maintain our automated handling equipment in our Carolina Distribution Center. In addition, in 2020, you will help us open a new Distribution Center in Houston, TX.

What you will be doing OR Job Details:
You will design, develop and optimize material handling equipment including Tilt Tray, Put-to-Light, Garment on Hanger and Shipping Sortation systems. You will implement data collection systems in compliance with established network standards. You will maximize the productivity of automate material handling systems through detailed analysis of product and system metrics. Responsibilities include:
o Ensure all Safety programs and procedures are followed
o Debug/troubleshoot automated machine controls
o Assess, recommend and maintain preventive maintenance programs
o Evaluate existing ladder logic and design control components to support departmental and facility goals.
o Enhance existing PLC programs (structured text and ladder logic), components (CPU back planes, I/O boards, counters, modules, and devices), and communications modules (Ethernet) as required to deliver operationally-ready technology solutions
o Troubleshoot control system hardware, application software, and data communication device issues
o Project planning, project management and cost analysis
" Work closely with Distribution Center Operations and Distribution Engineers to design and implement system changes and improvements. Perform data mining and analytical support to local system users. Provide technical support and training to local users.
" Prepare detailed documentation and material equipment user guides on system functionality controls, revisions and procedures.
" Performs other related duties as assigned.

What you need for this Position:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related
  • 2+ years of Controls Engineering experience using Allen Bradley, Mitsubishi, Optoo 22 and/or Hitachi
  • Ability to troubleshoot ladder logic.
  • Willingness to travel about 50% of the time when we open our Texas distribution center
  • You will have most of the following
    • Experience with automated conveyor systems and controls
    • Electrical/NEC, Electronics/Communications and Motor Controls/PLC
    • C Programming skills
    • Ability to read Blueprints and electrical schematics
    • Expertise with databases and other data mining and analysis tools along with strong knowledge fo SQL, Oracle and/or WMS.
