The Cook performs all necessary duties to uphold the communitys standards of quality and excellence in food, service, hospitality, and friendliness. The position is responsible for preparing well-presented meals in timely fashion according to the scheduled menu and/or resident requests. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Performs all aspects of meal preparation, cooking and presentation as assigned. Completes prep work as required for future meals. Assists in the completion of the order sheets to maintain the appropriate level of supplies and inventory. Maintains refrigerator and freezer in an organized manner and as required by the health department. Assists in the storage of stock items that have been delivered. Maintains a clean and safe workspace and work environment. Sweeps and mops kitchen area as assigned. Assists wait staff and residents assistants when required and needed. Prepares and handles food according to all regulations that affect the operations. Knows and uses Universal Precautions and Personal Protective Equipment provided according to requirements established by OSHA. Passion, dedication and commitment for providing seniors an engaging, enlivening and captivating living environment. Ability to identify issues before they occur. Able to handle problems as they arise in relation to the operation of the community and collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusion and make changes to prevent the problem from occurring again. QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION: One year of experience in the industry or a related field. Working knowledge of the industry. Excellent verbal and listening skills. The ability to multi-task effectively. PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT: The position is required to regularly sit for long periods of time, walk, stand, and communicate with residents, staff, family members and the public.
