Organizes work, cooks, bakes and/or otherwise prepares all hot foods for patients, cafeteria and catered meals. Cooks, prepares, and/or measures food items for modified diets according to recipes which restrict fat, salt and other ingredients. Prepares and delivers special luncheon, dinners and patient meals as required. Serves hot food from steam table as required. Develops, tests and standardizes new recipes. Wraps, dates and maintains stored foods; rotates stock of fresh foods; straightens contents of refrigerators, including pantries and non-stock food items. Verifies orders and signs for food/supplies deliveries. Maintains, monitors and sanitizes cooking utensils and equipment and reports malfunctions to the proper Supervisor/Manager. Follows State Board of Health guidelines for food safety and sanitation precautions/precaution QUALIFICATIONS/KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES ServSafe certification within one year of hire. High school graduate or an equivalent combination of education experience from which comparable job knowledge can be acquired; to include graduates from an approved IU Health transition-to-work program. Two years of food preparation/cooking experience in a healthcare setting within the past 5 years preferred.
