Chestnut Health Systems is seeking a full-time Counselor to work at our Maryville, IL location, servicing the Metro East and St. Louis, MO areas.

+ Support and model Recovery Value of Spirituality/Connectedness by maintaining positive and healthy relationships with colleagues and clients, encouraging teamwork and supporting colleagues and clients. Assist clients in finding ways to build their own spirituality and connectedness in recovery according to their own beliefs.
+ Demonstrate understanding of adolescent development and trauma throughout interactions with clients, assignments/homework given and expectations set.
+ Conduct diagnostic and assessment evaluations with clients and their families and write bio-psychosocial reports to address diagnosis and patient placement criteria as needed. Complete Columbia Suicide Severity Risk assessments and Vanderbilt Screening according to policy and appropriateness.
+ Complete treatment planning according to client’s assessed needs, and with the client’s input, making each plan individualized to that client.
+ Provide individual and family counseling to client and their families using evidence-based approaches (ACRA, CRAFT, MI, Seeking Safety) and in accordance with billable service expectations.
+ Conduct educational (didactic) and process oriented clinical groups. Maintain appropriate group management techniques and provide clients with scores in accordance with policy.
+ Maintain regular contact with each client’s collaterals (such as probation, family, psychiatrist).
+ Monitor and document scheduled and random urine screens for same gender clients.
+ Maintain accurate and timely records of client and all services provided (including treatment plan development and continuing stay reviews, assessment and discharge reports and progress notes) within assigned program according to policy and regulations.
+ Provide court testimony when requested.
+ Attend and participate constructively in all program meetings, staff meetings and supervision as assigned.
+ Participate in program and staff development activities, including initial training and competencies, mandatory trainings and achieving ACRA certification and maintenance of fidelity according to policy.
+ For Residential: Supervise clients in the program during designated hours according to the established schedule and staff/client ratio, including transporting them to appointments provided you are approved to transport.
+ For Residential: Serve meals and snacks according to the appropriate food sanitation and dietary procedures.
+ For Residential: Monitor self-administration of medication according to Medication Administration Record (MAR) and ensure all storage, security and documentation policies are followed.
+ Promote Chestnut’s culture of customer service excellence through the adherence to Chestnut’s behavioral standards for customer service.
+ Maintain and protect confidentiality and security of all organizational information gained in the course of performing job responsibilities including, but not limited to, financial and client information.
+ Perform other duties as assigned.
+ Must have a high school diploma or GED with an active Certified Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselor certification (CADC) in good standing with the State of Illinois;
+ Or a high school diploma or GED with five (5) years’ experience and must obtain CADC certification within two years of hire date.
+ Must be certified in Adolescent Community Reinforcement Approach (A-CRA) within one (1) year following A-CRA training.
+ Requires basic computer skills and experience to include MS Word, MS Excel, Outlook and Adobe Acrobat.
+ Prefer experience with an electronic medical record (EMR).
+ Prefer individual to have a valid driver's license, private automobile insurance and be insurable.
+ Satisfactory completion of Chestnut’s background checking process.
