The Director will work largely independently and may also function under the supervision of more senior members of the department, primarily providing support to the Immunology franchise.


+ Identify research study needs, assess data sources, draft proposals and protocols, and contribute to epidemiology strategy and study conduct


+ Work closely with colleagues in the Epidemiology group when defining research questions, developing epidemiological protocols, conducting analyses, interpreting and communicating evidence to internal and external stakeholders


+ Participate in various multi-disciplinary matrix teams to address issues raised by product teams/regulatory agencies where Real-World Data/Real World Evidence is relevant


+ Provide epidemiological and/or statistical consulting, education, and support, and disseminate technical information through technical reports, presentations, and publications in peer-reviewed literature as agreed by the team


+ Work will also include, both within and outside of existing electronic databases, researching natural history of diseases to understand background event rates in the indicated population expected with standard of care; statistical risk assessment; using historical clinical trial data and other data sources to contextualize potential safety issues for new medications, support benefit-risk assessments throughout the product lifecyle, design and conduct of post-authorization safety studies as part of Risk Management Plans


+ Be involved in supporting efforts for the Office of the Chief Medical Officer and cross-sector collaborations, as prioritized


+ Keep up to date with the FDA and other Health Authorities regarding regulatory requirements for Post Approval Authorization Studies and Risk Management plans and RWE guidance/framework for regulatory decision making


Qualifications


+ PhD in Epidemiology or a closely related field, OR MD with training and degree in Epidemiology or a closely related field, AND at least 5 years of research experience; OR Master’s degree in Epidemiology AND at least 8 years of Epidemiology research experience, is required


+ Pharmaceutical industry experience is preferred


+ Understanding of and the ability to interpret pharmacoepidemiology/quantitative methods is required


+ Experience with writing protocols in general and particularly the statistical methods sections of study proposals and/or proposal requests is required


+ Experience working with large administrative or medical records databases is preferred


+ Background in epidemiologic material on specific diseases, conditions, or therapies particularly relating to immunology is preferred


+ Experience working with health authorities is preferred


+ Phase III/IV experience is preferred


+ Experience working in a global environment is preferred


+ Strong verbal and written communication skills is required


+ Strong stakeholder management and experience effectively working in a complex, matrix environment is required

The anticipated base pay range for this position is $152,500-$229,000.


The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation’s performance over a calendar/ performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company’s discretion on an individual basis.
