The College of Agricultural Sciences is seeking a strategic-minded Director of Business Operations with financial management experience to co-lead the Finance & Business Operations unit. This position reports directly to the Senior Associate Dean of the College of Agricultural Sciences.

As a member of the College's senior leadership team, the successful candidate will provide and facilitate strategic coordination across a range of administrative functions including finance, facilities, research, auxiliaries, workforce management and data planning and analysis. Provide strategic direction to all administrative and academic functions which impact operational efficiency and financial sustainability. Advise Dean, Senior Associate Dean, Associate Deans, and all unit leaders on all administrative operations and create systems and processes to enhance the intersection of academic and administrative operations. Collaborates with unit staff to provide regular training to all College staff.


Create new resource opportunities across the College, including new program sources, user fees, cost containment strategies, and strategic positioning of the College with the University's Provost and CFO.

Oversee Berkey Creamery to ensure operational effectiveness and financial viability. Collaborate with team to create both short- and long-term business plans to support viability as well as enhance The Creamery brand for the College and University. Identify alternative revenue strategies with internal and external partners to create resources for future investment.

Create and implement new revenue strategies for additional auxiliaries (AG Analytical, Farm Residences, AG Progress Days, Timber Show) as well as operational units (Rock Springs, Sensory Lab, Meats Lab, faculty-specific service centers) to create additional resources for units to support their respective academic missions.

Successful applicants should demonstrate outstanding interpersonal, organizational and communication skills. They must also be able to multi-task and demonstrate a high level of attention to detail. Ability to work independently yet function within a team-driven organization is a must. In addition, this position must be able to provide exceptional customer service to a diverse group of customers.

Education and Experience:

Requires a Bachelor's degree or higher, plus ten years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Desired qualifications include, an MBA, business and entrepreneurial experience, and have a proven track record of managing multimillion-dollar contracts and agreements.
