Chief, Adult Cardiac Surgery
Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery
UT Health San Antonio at the Joe R. &
Teresa Lozano Long School of Medicine, and The Department of
Cardiothoracic Surgery seeks a full-time Adult Cardiac Surgeon to serve as
Division Chief of Adult Cardiac Surgery.
Dynamic leadership, motivation, organization, interpersonal
skills, and keen vision are required. Reporting to the Chair of the Department
of Cardiothoracic Surgery and serving as Co-Director of the Heart Vascular
Institute (HVI), the ideal candidate will be responsible for adding specific
expertise to Department, the HVI and institution. Specifically, mastery and expertise of the
thoracic aorta from both an open and endovascular approach and additional expertise
in minimally invasive revascularization or valve surgery is desired. A
demonstrated interest in building robust clinical and high quality educational
programs within a collegial interactive culture is required. UT Health San
Antonio is a research intensive institution and a demonstrated interest in
laboratory or clinical investigation is highly desired.
Candidates must be board certified in Thoracic Surgery or in
rare circumstance, an international “equivalent” could be considered. The ideal
candidate will have a desire to further our teams’ reputation for educational,
clinical and academic excellence. The ability to foster a culture of
collaboration, innovation, and accountability, across the Health Science Center
is important. This is a wonderful
