**Position Summary:**

The Division Director Graduate Medical Education (GME) will work at the divisional level to help strategically grow graduate medical education across multiple locations. Primarily coordinates new and ongoing program accreditations, helping to manage academic sponsor relationships, assist with local human resource needs and keeping divisional leadership alert to critical needs and issues at individual GME programs that may require special resources or attention.

**Principal Duties and Accountabilities:**

+ Provides strategic guidance to individual programs and the division as a whole around the development of new programs, expanding specialty training, and expansion of existing programs.

+ Evaluates organization and division program development and expansion, and provide long term support to create a division-wide framework for innovation and identify academic partnerships

+ Assists and project manages the development of new GME programs across the division.

+ Works with sponsoring organizations to develop support efforts to market division GME programs. Identify market niche opportunities and organize efforts to promote programs.

+ Assists all program directors with the maintenance of accreditation in accordance with ACGME/Joint Commission standards.

+ Participates in the management of relationships with sponsoring organizations.

+ Provides input on GME Office work product, staff hiring, performance development, and training recommendations.

+ Leads, directs, trains and coaches GME accreditation and education staff while ensuring work assignments align with skills and work load.

+ Acts as a resource for residents and other trainees as needed.

+ Works across GME programs to assess current practices and processes to further goals for optimizing efficiency, service and cost containment.

+ Reviews GME program budgets across all programs and identify best practices for program management.

+ Works with local Designated Institutional Officers (DIO) and hospital leadership teams to identify opportunities to maximize return on investment for individual programs and the division as a whole.

+ Establishes relationships with each facility DIO to function as a resource as well as link the DIOs together across the division.

+ Facilitates participation of all residency directors in the CommonSpirit Health system GME activities.

+ Works with local DIOs to evaluate provider retention and identify opportunities to improve systemic provider retention.

+ Evaluates student and faculty satisfaction with program and identify systemic opportunities to improve both across all programs.

+ Works across programs to share curriculums and didactic material that can enhance education.

+ Establishes a process to leverage program management insights across all programs to identify best practices and share opportunities to improve program performance through formal and informal DIO forums.

+ Works with DIOs and sponsoring organizations to create and support clinical learning environments characterized by excellence in clinical care and safety.



**Education and Experience:**

+ Bachelor’s Degree - In healthcare or business or other related field required.

+ Minimum of 5 years of experience in healthcare setting required.

**Special Skills:**

+ Special skills required include:

+ Ability to exercise planning, organization, delegation, and follow through skills to effectively complete assignments.

+ Excellent problem-solving ability in a broad range of areas to address all of the potential problems that might arise; scheduling conflicts, communication problems, technical problems, etc.

+ Excellent organizational ability to develop a system with few major problems that address the needs to all participants.

+ Excellent internal and external customer service skills by being tactful, helpful, diplomatic and participate as a team member and deal effectively with other team members and customers.

+ Exceptional resourcefulness and sensitivity to politics at all levels (local, regional, federal, professional, business, inter-institutional, etc.).

+ Strong ability to multi-task, meet deadlines and professionally manage pressure situations.


+ Training and knowledge in: business, project and program management required.


+ Master’s Degree in Healthcare, Business or technology OR certified in a job specific related field (CPHQ, CHCP, CMM, CDMP, CMP, etc.) preferred.

+ Experience working with healthcare employee population preferred.
