Emergency Department Technician
Provides prescribed medical treatment and personal care services, within the scope of the Emergency Department Technician and as delegated by the registered nurse, to patients receiving care in the Riverwood Health Care Center Emergency Department.
Education and Experience
GED or High School Diploma, Nursing Assistant Registered (NAR)
Current NAR Certification or ability to obtain within a year of hire. First Responder Certification encouraged but not required, Current certification in BLS or ability to obtain during orientation.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Essential Duties include, but are not limited to the following:
Performs a variety of tasks and assists with patient care in accordance with scope of practice as regulated by the Minnesota Nurse Practice Act. Training with specific tasks is also done in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act. With training the following tasks may be performed under the direction/supervision of the Emergency Department RN:
Management of clerical duties within the Nurse’s Station,
Appropriate documentation in and maintenance of medical records, in accordance with policy and in accordance with HIPPA guidelines,
Assistance with patient care, monitoring, and associated interventions,
Performance of such tasks as 12 lead EKG, Urinary catheter placement, IV placement, Lab draws, as well as other tasks after successful training,
Able to provide basic first aid and treatments in the ED as directed by the RN/Provider
Transports patients and assists patients with ambulation,
Assists with treatments such as ice packs, warm packs, etc.
Assists with collection and transport of Lab specimens.
Restocks supplies as needed and per shift requirement,
