Job Description


Bowhead is seeking an Engineering Technician to serve part-time in dual roles:

1) As Instrumentation Specialist/Tech for Remote Test Support (RTS) AND,

2) Serve as Engineering Technician for Potomac River Test Range at NSWC Dahlgren.

* As the Engineering Technician, you will be able to troubleshoot electronics and improvise on-site to ensure data is collected.

* Will have a working knowledge of instrumentation such as: Synergy, Cinedeck, Phantom; pressure sensors, accelerometer, thermocouple, high speed video, standard HD video, toxicity, noise, etc.

* Must be able to efficiently perform testing onboard naval vessels during all sea states.

* Should be familiar with CONUS activities and naval facilities at Norfolk, Mayport, San Diego, Port Hueneme, Pearl Harbor, Port Allen, etc.

Requirements Associates degree preferred with two (2) years of experience.

* Engineering Tech must have experience with test equipment including but not limited to spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, millimeters and network analyzers.

* Engineering Tech must also have experience with setup, operation and troubleshooting of RF equipment including antennas, transmitters and receivers.

* Should have working knowledge and experience of software based instrumentation and the ability to learn new software in order to complete testing at hand.

* Have the ability to work with common hand tools including but not limited to crimpers, strippers, soldering irons, drills, and other various tools associated with installing, repairing and replacing various types of cables and lines is a major plus.

* Must be able and willing to travel next day; total travel may be up to 90%. Must be able to travel for weeks and months at a time both at-sea or land-based. As such, must be able to independently perform testing with no connection to external support. Must have no medical issues that would prevent embarking US naval vessels.

* Must have the ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing to a variety of audiences.

SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIRED: Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance at the Secret level. US Citizenship is a requirement for Secret clearance at this location.
