Job Function:

The Entrepreneur-in-Residence (EIR) program brings successful entrepreneurs to Carnegie Mellon University's (CMU) campuses to mentor and help CMU generated startup companies become successful. Project Olympus is the startup incubator program for Carnegie Mellon University. We help faculty, staff and students at all levels explore the commercial potential of their innovations and research.

To that end, Project Olympus has a series of programs to expedite the learning and commercialization opportunities and is seeking to hire up to eight experienced Entrepreneurs-in-Residence to serve as part-time coaches/mentors for startups participating in our various programs such as:

* NSF iCorps Site Program

* Innovation Fellows Accelerator Program

* Olympus Incubator Program

To be successful in this role, you should have extensive experience working in a startup or mentoring startups and/or domain expertise in robotics, machine learning, artificial intelligence, chemistry, cleantech/energy, electronics/semiconductors, software, medical devices/Biotech, Chemistry and material sciences as well as sales, marketing, startup law, manufacturing and fundraising/finances.

We are seeking two Entrepreneur in Residence for the Innovation Fellows Accelerator Program. The goal of the Innovation Fellows program is to accelerate the process of commercializing university research. It aims to foster entrepreneurship among graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and research assistants - the research personnel who work directly with faculty investigators to conduct scientific experiments, tackle problems and innovate.

This program runs from July-Dec and Jan-June. Your salary will be $3000-3400/semester and you will work approximately 7.5-8 hrs/week. You will be assigned 2-3 Fellows to mentor during the fall and spring semesters.

Your primary responsibilities include:

* Attending the cohort meetings which occur every other Wednesday from 12-1:30pm

* Meeting with the assigned mentees every week to follow up on deliverables, and coach to increase knowledge and understanding of the elements of entrepreneurship

* Assisting with identifying target markets and making connections for Customer Discovery interviews

* Briefing the program administrators every other week on progress and/or issues with the teams. (Briefings can be in person, conference call and/or written reports upon mutual agreement.)

* 10-15 year's of relevant work experience required
