**Job Overview:**

APTIM is looking for an Environmental Scientist (hydrogeologist, geologist, or environmental scientist) to join our team of engineers, scientists, and technicians who are passionately committed to safely solving our clients' environmental concerns. The qualified candidate will be a hands-on scientist who is dedicated to completing assigned tasks with precision and accuracy in both their field and office duties. The Environmental Scientist is a professional position providing support for a range of environmental and infrastructure projects funded by private and government clients. The scientist will perform a variety of field and office work that includes collection of soil, water, and other environmental media samples for laboratory analysis; installation of soil borings and monitor wells; and completion of environmental compliance inspection, due diligence reports, dewatering permits and support activities. Work will include primarily field tasks, but also office tasks necessary to complete environmental assessment, remediation and infrastructure projects. The work mix initially is expected to be 50% field and 50% office.

**Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:**

+ Work activities support various aspects of environmental projects that may include preliminary environmental document preparation, environmental permitting, storm water system evaluation and inspection, environmental due diligence, environmental site characterization, compliance inspections, and environmental site closure phases.

+ Field work will consist of completing well-defined tasks using established company procedures and policies while demonstrating problem-solving skills when unexpected obstacles are encountered. Supervision of contractors, collaboration with other APTIM field personnel, interaction with regulatory personnel, and eventually mentoring and training or less-experienced personnel will be required.

+ Office work will include interpretation and presentation of collected data in reports that include text, tables, and figures suitable for client and regulatory review. Preparation of due diligence reports, dewatering permits, and other associated environmental reporting.

+ Work will often involve use of complex instrumentation or equipment and may include installation, calibration and/or maintenance of equipment or instrumentation associated with a particular job site.

+ The Scientist will be expected to apply technical skills and knowledge to complete the assigned work and will be expected to manage his/her own time to meet deadlines set by others.

+ The Scientist will generate and maintain detailed and accurate records both manually and by computer methods.

+ Candidate will work closely with Project Managers in implementing project tasks to meet client objectives and priorities.

+ Ability to work in a fast-paced work environment where changing client priorities require flexibility and creativity.

+ Candidate must also be flexible and willing to support other projects as needed.

+ Comply with all company policies and procedures during the execution of work.

**Basic Qualifications:**

+ BS degree in Geology, Environmental Science, or related field.

+ 3-5 years work experience in the field, primarily related to environmental services including sites assessment, well/soil boring installations, property transfer due diligence, environmental permit sampling, compliance inspections, and supervising contractors.

+ 3-5 years of experience in the office preparing text, tables, figures, field documentation and design drawings and calculations for environmental reports. Strong written and oral communication skills are required.

+ Proficiency in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

+ Knowledge and understanding of state and federal environmental regulations.

+ Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.

+ Strong attention to detail.

+ Excellent time management skills and ability to manage multiple activities on an on-going basis by given deadline

+ Must be able to safely drive to job sites.

+ 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER Training

**Desired/Preferred Qualifications:**

+ Experience working in Florida geologic environments.

+ Experience with Chapters 62-780 and 62-777, Florida Administrative Code.
