MYR Group Inc., one of the oldest and largest electrical contractors in the country has an immediate opportunity for a Heavy Equipment Field Mechanic based in the Portland, OR area and will work mostly in the field servicing our project needs. This position will service company projects in the Pacific Northwest region including Oregon, Washington, and Idaho. Flexibility to travel consistently will be necessary for this role.

Heavy Equipment Field Mechanic Duties:

This position will be responsible for performing preventative maintenance on electrical construction and transportation equipment. In addition, the Heavy Equipment Field Mechanic will be responsible for constructing, maintaining, and testing mechanical equipment.

MYR equipment to include but not limited to:

* Bucket trucks
* Digger derricks
* Boom trucks
* Construction equipment
* Overhead pullers and tension machines
* Aerial lifts
* Large mobile cranes
* Class 1 to 8 vehicles
* Dozers and other construction equipment

**Successful candidates will have had previous experience and training on the above equipment.

The ability to multitask and identify parts or machines that need new components, or need to be replaced, will be necessary along with the ability to understand and comply with the Company's Code of Business Conduct and Ethics and other industry-specific professional and ethical conduct standards, if applicable.

Heavy Equipment Field Mechanic Skills/Qualifications:

  • Must have experience working on heavy construction equipment
  • Five (5) years of experience on class 1 to class 8 chassis service and repairs.
  • Five (5) years of experience on dirt equipment, backhoes, and dozers
  • Five (5) years of experience in hydraulic systems
  • Preferably has experience with electrical placing equipment, overhead pullers and tensioners
  • Preferably five (5) years of experience on aerial equipment, insulated bucket trucks, digger derricks, and large mobile cranes
  • Must be willing and able to obtain a CDL within 90 days of being hired if you don't have one currently
  • Able to successfully pass a criminal background check, MVR, and federal drug screening
  • Able to travel as necessary
  • Welding skills: stick, mig, tig, and gas are preferred
  • Ability to use a wide range of personal hand tools
