Mount Hermon Association, Inc. ("MHA") is a Christian Camp and Conference Center that has been operating for 116 years! We have two exciting retail store sthat you can be a part of: our ice cream and coffee shops. You can expect to learn how to prepare different types of drinks, keep our shops clean and have nice conversations with our guests.


We are looking for people with a positive attitude and disposition to learn new things. No experience necessary.


Position Objective:


The Food Retail Team Lead works with both the summer staff and part-time food retail teams at the Espresso Cart, Fountain, and Dining areas to provide oversight and leadership, ensuring quality customer service in a manner consistent with MHA’s mission, vision, beliefs and standards of conduct.


The Food Retail Lead is a Ministerial position. Ministerial staff render their work, stewardship, relationships and behavior as evidence of being followers of Jesus Christ while embracing and affirming Mount Hermon Association, Inc.’s (“MHA”) Christian mission, vision, beliefs, culture code and standards of conduct. They are responsible for defining, cultivating and leading MHA’s Christian community, conference programs and retreats.


All staff are expected to join gatherings, which includes prayer, worship, and Bible-centered teaching.


Key Job Accountabilities:


+ Encourage, provide direction, lead by example and act as supervisor when the Food Retail Manager is unavailable.


+ Identify guest needs and teach the team how to appropriately suggest products to enhance service and meet sales goals.


+ Provide prompt courteous service to customers.


+ Reconcile and deposit daily sales to ensure cash drawers are balanced out properly at the end of the day.


+ Make change daily or as needed to ensure cash drawers have sufficient change.


+ Ensure proper and sanitary preparation of food and drink orders as well as quality and quantity control of food and drink at Espresso Cart and Fountain.


+ Oversee the correct and timely recording of cleaning log and food temperature logs.


+ Maintain a clean and sanitary work environment in accordance with MHA Food Services Standards.


+ Organize and stock supplies and displays.


+ Assist the Supervisor in inventory control.


+ Perform any other duties as assigned by the Supervisor, which may include outdoor sales and filling in for other Food Services needs.


Supervisory Responsibilities:


This position oversees and directs the work of Food Retail Clerks.


Education/Certifications/Licenses:


+ High school graduate.


+ Vocational School/College experience.


+ Serve Safe Certificate preferred.


+ Valid Driver’s License.


Work Experience:


+ Previous food, retail, or sales experience is preferred but not necessary.


+ Cash handling experience preferred but not necessary..


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:


+ Must have a heart to serve.


+ Ability to operate calmly and rationally in stressful situations.


+ Must be a punctual and responsible individual.


+ Must exhibit great interpersonal skills with people of all ages.


+ Must be observant and attentive.


+ Ability to articulate the gospel of Jesus Christ as communicated in Scripture.


+ Mature understanding and respect for authority and peers, as well as camp guidelines and principles.


+ Ability to learn how to use a cash register and make accurate cash and credit transactions, or previous POS system experience.


+ General accounting skills relating to retail sales are preferred.


+ General understanding of correct food handling and safe serving techniques.


Physical Demands:


The physical environment requires the employee to work both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Requires sitting, standing, squatting, stooping, twisting, and lifting up to 50 lbs.


+ Must have a clean driving record of at least three years, and agree to and comply with MHA’s employee driving guidelines for MHA-owned vehicles and use of personal vehicles for business purposes.


+ Ability to work evenings, weekends, summers, special events, and holidays.


+ Adherence to the basic principles as expressed in MHA’s Mission, Vision, Values and Commitment statements.


+ Adherence to company dress code and professional standards for personal grooming and appearance.


+ Satisfactory completion of background investigation, or valid work permit, as well as ability to provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
