Job Description

Overview

Network Engineer to support the 24x7x365 Network Operations Team on the IRES program. Position is located at Schriever AFB, CO. Position is Shift Work (Swing/Mid or as required by OPTEMPO).

Responsibilities

* Monitoring the MDA Enterprise Network using HPOV NNMi and other provided tools

* Responding to Remedy Incident Tickets

* Working with end customers to resolve network communications issues

* Working with DISA and DREN to report and resolve network circuit issues

* Direct access to local LAN and WAN equipment to assist troubleshooting network connectivity issues (Cisco command line)

* Layer 1 cable troubleshooting and replacement

* Layer 2 port activations

* Other duties as assigned by functional manager

Qualifications

REQUIRED:

* High School Diploma plus 12 years of general experience or an Associate's degree and 10 years general experience or a Bachelor's degree and 8 years general experience

* Requires 6 years relevant experience

* Candidates must have completed and be enrolled in Continuing Education (CE) with a Security+ certification

* Must be familiar with HP Openview, NetScout, networking (LAN/WAN) and basic troubleshooting network anomalies (command line access to network devices)

* Familiarity with Remedy Action Request System

* Must have an understanding of COMSEC

* Must demonstrate excellent customer service skills

* Must have the ability to work shifts

* Candidate must be proficient in developing comprehensive and detailed drawings, using Microsoft Visio, to document end-to-end circuit path for maintaining both Wide-Area networks (WANs) and Local-Area networks (LANs)

* Candidate must have a Secret DoD security clearance with the ability to obtain a DoD Top Secret security clearance

* Candidate must have DoD 8570 Certification

* Must be able to multi-task in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and have good communication skills

* Must be able to work well in a team environment, have good interpersonal skills, be a quick learner and have a positive, can-do attitude

* Must be able to follow documented processes/procedures and provide feedback to update as necessary

* Must demonstrate excellent customer service skills

DESIRED:

* Cisco CCNA Certification

* Experience with Cisco routers/switches, and Network firewalls and KVM switches

* Experience with TCP/IP, UDP Multicast, OSPF, and various WAN network mediums, legacy network systems such as SONET, LightWave ATM and TDM multiplexer network timing systems

* Experience in supporting environments for an "operational network", to include tech-control environments, crypto maintenance, COMSEC, or systems administration

* Proficient working with DISA, local and long-haul circuit vendors

* Strong technical and hands-on experience in all of the following: various protocols for data transmission (RS-232, RS-530, T1, T3, ESF, D4, B8ZS, OC-3, OC-12, OC-48, OC-192), OSI (Open Systems Interconnection) 7-layer model and the various facets of data transmission between any two points in a network
