**Role and Responsibilities**


The Supervisor II at SAS is responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating the operations of one or more departments. Duties include formulating policies and procedures, managing daily operations, and planning the use of materials and human resources. The specific components of the process and/product is further described in the “job functions” and “required skills and abilities” sections below.


The Supervisor II:


+ Supervises, typically with operational focus, in area(s) of functional expertise


+ Manages operational policies within area(s) managed


+ Manages employees on shift on an ongoing basis with accountability for costs, schedules, productivity, and performance standards


+ Works on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires in-depth knowledge of organizational objectives


+ Erroneous decisions or failure to achieve results can lead to significant expenditure of time, human resources, and money


+ Acts as advisor to subordinates to meet schedules and resolve problems


+ Identifies complex problems and reviews related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions


+ Communicates detailed plans for work assignments and is second point of contact for issues that arise


Specific Job Duties:


+ Serves as a second level process/technical expert for functional area of expertise and/or administers functional programs


+ Analyzes and tracks functional programs for efficiency and effectiveness or provides guidance to functional employees on analyzing and tracking functional programs


+ Manages, mentors, and trains staff within functional area of expertise


+ Prepares work schedules and assigns specific duties


+ Establishes and implements team or departmental policies, goals, objectives, and procedures, conferring with appropriate parties


+ Determines staffing requirements in conjunction with Human Resources and participates in recruiting processes such as phone screening and interviewing


+ Identifies areas of opportunities in the following areas: business process improvement, functional programs, and administration; provides input as to which improvement projects need to be pursued; may be the decision maker on smaller scale initiatives


+ Contributes to and/or oversees the design and implementation functional programs


+ Completes thorough analysis of administration issues and makes recommendations for complex issues


+ Coordinates teams to implement significant changes as needed


+ Negotiates or approves contracts and agreements with suppliers and other external entities as approved by supervisor


+ Manages vendor(s) and/or consultants as needed


+ Monitors workflow to achieve KPIs, goals and objectives


+ Manages people in a best practice and compliant fashion


+ Communicates company and departmental direction to subordinates


+ Works on projects with a broad departmental scope, has many undefined components, have impact across the department and has many interdependencies


+ Participates in hiring process for employees in their functional area


+ Leads group meetings


+ Conducts one on one meetings with direct reports on a regular basis


+ Conducts skip level meetings as needed


+ Ensures employees are trained on best practices and compliance related issues


+ Implements performance management processes in a fair and compliant fashion


+ Regular attendance and timeliness is required per departmental guidelines


+ Understands factory automation and systems or deep knowledge in area of functional expertise


+ Effectively communicates via verbal/written means to immediate team and other SAS departments


+ Deeply proficient in relevant SAS systems


+ Has advanced project management skills


+ Has advanced knowledge of relevant software tools and languages


+ Possesses advanced data analysis skills; and can analyze & interpret data on an intermediate level


+ Has an intermediate knowledge of relevant engineering and/or functional principles


+ Has a working knowledge of best practices regarding managing people


+ Understands the laws and regulations regarding hiring and managing people


+ Accepts that change is inevitable and embraces change with innovation, courage, and resiliency


+ Consistently demonstrates work ethics and values. Conducts duties of the position with truth, sincerity and fairness. Strong adherence to ground rules


+ Possesses strong attention to detail, flexibility, and prioritization


**Skills and Qualifications**


Education, Training, Certification(s) and Minimum # Years Required:


+ High School Diploma or technical school certification preferred


+ Typically requires 8-15 years of experience


+ Instrumentation experience preferred


+ May require trade knowledge in a specialized field


+ May require a specific license (dependent on individual position)


Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Software, and Tools:


+ Maintains confidentiality of sensitive and proprietary information


+ Able to work in a team environment


+ Understands manufacturing systems


+ Effectively communicates via verbal/written means to immediate team and other SAS departments


+ Advanced knowledge of relevant SAS systems


+ Has advanced knowledge of relevant software tools (i.e. Microsoft, etc.)


+ Ability to work flexible hours as necessary


+ Intermediate knowledge in relevant code regulations


+ Ability to work independently within the broad scope of an objective


+ Intermediate knowledge of mentoring, coaching and leading groups/people


+ May require the ability to maintain a state license as necessary (i.e., journeyman)
