Laboratory Information System Analyst provides system building, testing, implementation, analytical, educational, and system support/maintenance for laboratory modules, upgrades, interfaces, and procedures through a comprehensive knowledge of the clinical and pathologic laboratories' technical operations and their dynamic integration with information technology systems.
The system analyst will also perform application support during on call hours as scheduled. Performs other support tasks including but not limited to: installation, maintenance, trouble shooting and enhancement. Supports the laboratory information system (LIS) under the direction of the LIS Director. Participates in the testing and validation of IT projects with a laboratory component throughout the health system.
**_Roles & Responsibilities:_**
+ Maintains and supports the LIS daily by resolving issues.
+ Maintains required documentation to conform with CAP regulatory standards.
+ Reviews CAP checklists and reviews/write policies and procedures to comply with each standard.
+ Assists with the development and maintenance of educational materials for LIS
+ Utilizes test scripts to perform LIS functionality for new tests and interface testing for new interfaces or instrumentss.
+ Provide daily support and troubleshooting for test and production hardware, software, and operations issues
+ Provides recommendations that align with organizational and IT operations goals in a cost-effective manner
+ Effectively communicates and interacts with employees and clients and aid them in implementing and troubleshooting systems
+ Provides guidance, direction, and training to the internal team on all system/software updates and changes
+ Document all interactions and problem resolution
+ Oversees/performs troubleshooting of LIS system. Escalates to software vendor when required.
+ On Call Support as scheduled
Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology or Computer Science. 2 years of IT experience with at least 1 year of experience working with a LIS. MT. MLS (ASCP) Certification. Working knowledge of various aspects of Lab operations. Knowledge of HL7 and Lab Device Interfaces. Expert knowledge of the Laboratory Department and LIS information flow.
**Primary Application:** This position will support software and coordinate infrastructure and interface support for a suite of clinical ancillary applications including, but limited to, the laboratory applications used throughout the MSHS laboratories. This includes Sunquest, SCC Softlab, Powerpath and all associated modules. These systems are used by the various laboratories for ordering, processing, resulting, and reporting on all pathology specimens.
**Knowledge / Competencies:**
+ Healthcare experience preferred, including hospital and clinical applications.
+ Familiarity with healthcare workflows and terminology desirable.
+ Strong ability to document testing and troubleshooting results and processes.
+ Working knowledge of a Clinical Pathology laboratory’s practices and terminology is preferred.
+ Experience with Sunquest and / or SCC Softlab, Powerpath or other dedicated laboratory information systems is preferred
+ Ability to understand and satisfy all regulatory measures related to Pathology IT practices. (JCAHO, State agencies, FDA, Meaningful Use, ICD10, etc.)
+ Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with clients, IT management, and team members.
+ Familiarity and understanding of database structure, maintenance and support preferred.
+ Ability to maintain monitoring systems for data and system integrity.
+ Ability to track tasks, and meet timelines and submit status reports to IT Management.
