Provides direct and indirect patient care in an organized manner that reflects initiative, clinical competence and responsibility under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse. Specific responsibilities include administering medications, initiating IV fluids, insertion of naso-gastric tubes and foley catheters. Assisting with therapeutic/diagnostic procedures as directed. Maintains accurate charting and discharges in a timely manner. Communicates changes in patient's condition to the Charge RN.
Graduation from an accredited school of practical nursing. Graduate of accredited paramedic program.
Preferred one-two year emergency department experience.
Current LPN or Paramedic license/certification with the State of Florida. Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS required.
Specialized knowledge and skills:
IV Therapy, Basic EKG Interpretation, Proficient in NG tubes, foley caths, Accuchecks, sterile dressing changes, assisting physicians in procedures.
