The Shift Supervisor is responsible for the supervision of the Finished Goods shipping and receiving departments, with full responsibility for the methods and quality of order accuracy, product handling and loading techniques, quantity of output, schedule adherence, inventory control, housekeeping, safety and training of employees.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

* Supervises hourly union employees within the shipping and receiving departments. Responsibility includes assigning, directing and assisting hourly workers.

* Responsible for review and approval of the daily shipping schedule to ensure a balance is maintained between order activity and available resources.

* Ensures that shipping schedule is completed in its entirety each day while preparing for success on subsequent days.

* Communicates and addresses opportunities with other departments including Transportation Planning, Order Management, Manufacturing, and Quality to ensure customer requirements are met.

* Coordinate resource planning activities to ensure proper staffing levels are established to meet peak shipping times especially at month end, quarter end and year end.

* Initiates action on hiring, discipline, termination, layoff and promotion of department employees with final approval by the department manager.

* Performs timely and accurate system transactions, relative to shipping and receiving activities, to ensure 100% compliance to the published SOX documentation.

* Troubleshoot reported issues / discrepancies and implement process changes to assure repeated issues do not occur.

* Measure key indicators within Finished Goods and publish monthly metrics relative to the department's performance.

* Performs daily audits of customers' orders to ensure picking and shipping accuracy.

* Procures all necessary packing and shipping supplies to support the Finished Goods department.

* Monitor the equipment maintenance program to ensure all material handling equipment is functional and safe.

* Monitor and enforce the safety rules and regulations to maintain a safe work environment.

QUALIFICATIONS

* Five (5) + years Warehouse Operations experience, with a minimum of two (2) years in a supervisory role

* Experience with computer-based shipping systems is essential.

* Strong leadership and communication skills with excellent follow-up and sense of urgency

* Fluent with all Microsoft Office applications

* High School diploma required. Bachelor's Degree preferred.
