Job Description and Qualifications

Air Products and Chemicals, Inc. (NYSE:APD), a Fortune 500 manufacturer of industrial gases is seeking experienced Maintenance Technicians for its LaPorte and Baytown, TX ASU Facilities.

The Maintenance Technician will support our Air Separation facilities in the Houston, TX area. Additional support is also needed for the four natural gas fired turbines we operate for a third party power company. Primarily the employee will be based out of the LaPorte Air Separation Unit.

The Air Separation units produce oxygen, nitrogen, argon, xenon through a cryogenic distillation process. The products from these facilities are sent to customers around the country and locally via pipelines and tractor trailers.

The maintenance person will be responsible for the safe operation, troubleshooting, repair, and documentation of all activities surrounding plant equipment.

Work schedule is based on a Mon-Thurs, 10 hour dayshift with on-call responsibilities as needed.

The basic function of this position is to provide necessary technical and hands on support to continuously improve plant rotating and stationary equipment integrity, reliability, cost and on stream factor. Maintenance mechanic is responsible for maintaining / troubleshooting all equipment and facility maintenance.

Qualifications / Requirements:

* 5 years' maintenance experience in a petrochemical or manufacturing environment.

* 2 years' associate degree in mechanical applications or high school diploma

* Ideal candidates may have experience through an apprenticeship training or military experience relating to mechanical functions.

* Ability to troubleshoot and repair a variety of static and rotating equipment using appropriate tools and test equipment.

* A background in maintaining pumps, mechanical seals, vessels, exchangers, turbines gear drives, and reciprocating and centrifugal compressors is essential.

* Experience operator equipment such as crane, loader, large capacity forklifts are a plus.

* Participate actively in department/plant safety programs. Promote safety rules and regulations as well as environmental compliance.

* Engage actively in a team environment, bring a positive attitude, maintain personal accountability and provide mentoring and coaching for team member development.

Technical School Graduates: Students with a background in Industrial Systems, Machine Tool Technology, Electromechanical Technology, Mechatronics, Automotive Technology, HVAC, Process Technology, Electrical Technology, Instrumentation Technology are encouraged to apply.
