Job Description


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

* Schedules maintenance work to be performed, based upon priorities established by the Maintenance Manager

* Supervises maintenance technicians engaged in the installation, servicing, and machine repair of all mechanical equipment; painting and performing structural repairs to masonry, woodwork, and furnishing of buildings, and maintaining and repairing building utility systems, such as electrical wiring and controls, heating and ventilation systems

* Maintains CMM's for presses, air compressors, dryer, and chillers

* Maintains tool and parts inventory on CMM's, and all other supplies

* Works with maintenance personnel in the development of training programs, and may conduct specialized technical training

* Provides technical assistance to Plant Manager and Production Supervisors in analyzing and solving problems in daily mechanical and inspection work

* Maintains Preventative Maintenance on all stamping equipment

* Develops and recommends written procedures and work documents to ensure compliance with governmental regulatory agencies (MIOSHA) requirements

* Assists in developing new techniques and methods for routine, non-routine and project work; investigates cost saving improvements

* Interviews and recommends candidates for employment or termination; Conducts performance assessments where applicable

* Acts as a liaison with other departments; Performs other special projects and tasks assigned by management

* Other job duties may be assigned

Supervisory Responsibilities

Directly supervises 10-15 employees in the Maintenance Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; rewarding and counseling employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Minimum Requirements

Education and/or Experience

* Associates of Science degree in a technical field, trade school or mechanical training in machine repair, including mechanical, electrical and hydraulics, or

* Minimum of five to seven years related work experience, preferably in an automotive stamping facility

Skills and Abilities

* Must have a thorough understanding of machinery, their functions and maintenance requirements; Working knowledge of presses from 300 Ton to 2,200 Ton; Transfer die knowledge is preferred

* Working knowledge of auxiliary equipment such as air compressors, chillers, and hi-lo's, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems

* Ability to lead, motivate, and train maintenance personnel

* Must have excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to communicate with all departments and outside contractors/vendors

* Must have above average organizational skills and be able to handle a number of simultaneous projects

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand and walk, bend, use hands or fingers, handle or feel objects, tools or controls and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move 20 or more pounds. The position requires the ability to maintain a professional attitude in a fast paced environment.

Work Environment

This position will perform work both in the plant and office environment with unrestricted movement. Some travel as required.
