You will join a team of qualified email, web and quality assurance specialists who support all marketing email programs at the New York Times, from Cooking to Events and beyond. You will join a team that not only maintains a high standard of operational excellence, but has also been recognized for our innovation (2019 Oracle Markie Award nominees, co-recipients of internal awards).
This is a full-time role reporting directly to the Director of Digital Assets Operations.
Because of COVID-19 the New York Times is currently working remotely, but we are planning for a hybrid working model in 2022.
You will support growth and new ideas in our email tools and program, working on projects in our expanding Standalone product portfolio: NYT Cooking, NYT Games, NYT Audio and NYT Kids (in Beta). You will partner not only with our internal email and quality assurance groups but with partners across Marketing and Technology to build programs and experiences. We ask that you have deep expertise in Oracle Responsys, but also prior background in real-time triggering and automation. You are able not only to translate complex requirements into efficient campaign builds but who can be a resource for the team. You will be interested and eager to get in on the ground floor of a transformative period for our program.
+ Lead/manage the build-out of new capabilities and functionality within our Email Service Provider, Oracle Responsys, and with other marketing automation tools
+ Increase functional expertise of the email team through the improvement of processes and training
+ Be a platform(s) experts: look for answers if they are unknown and keep up-to-date on latest industry trends and best practices, with a focus on email
+ Effectively give options for delivering new projects and be able to speak to the benefits/considerations of each option, ensuring that dependencies and needs are clearly highlighted
+ Communicate and share best practices, incidents and next steps with shareholders as the product(s) evolve.
+ Pitching in on operational tasks from email ideation to HTML coding and deployment, if needed, but with a focus on upskilling team.
+ A minimum of 5 years technical expertise in email execution/experience with cloud-based/SaaS solution offerings (html, email automation, segmentation, deliverability, etc.).
+ Demonstrated experience leading highly visible / high value initiatives
+ Knowledge of web languages including HTML, CSS, RPL (Responsys programming language)
+ A strong understanding of database structure and SQL knowledge
+ Working knowledge of the following areas:
+ Marketing automation platforms such as Responsys, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Eloqua, etc.
+ API Management
+ A willingness to 'roll up one's sleeves' and assist wherever needed
+ Able to distill concepts into reality
