Reporting to the Executive Director of Marketing, the Marketing Specialist will be responsible for strategically supporting the university's integrated marketing plans, inquiry goals, and conversion goals by ensuring that email strategy and content are optimized, user-centered, engaging, and effectively achieve enrollment objectives. As the Marketing Specialist, your core role will be to build and deploy all the execution steps and technical processes of email journeys within our email marketing platform. This role will focus primarily on student recruitment email strategy in order to lead the SDSU Global Campus in implementing best practices. This position is key to future growth and will be responsible for the full spectrum of email management from strategy development, build, execution, and evaluation.
The Marketing Specialist is integral to Global Campus prospective student inquiry and conversion goals by ensuring that our CRM/Email strategy and delivery are optimized, student-centric, and consistent with Global Campus experiential branding, to build awareness of program offerings.
+ Create a variety of email templates for marketing and general communication emails, including institutional needs such as the Global Campus quarterly newsletter.
+ Work with the Executive Director of Marketing to strategize, build, and manage trigger email campaigns based on customer data in CRM (Salesforce), to guide prospects and our audiences towards desired outcomes.
+ Create and maintain target lists for marketing, registration, and program emails sent out by Global Campus.
+ Working in tandem with web developer, to build and update web forms to capture website prospective student leads that feed into our marketing automation system.
+ Create and update form auto-reply emails for website and landing page forms and workflows to trigger auto-response emails when landing page leads are created.
+ Work with Executive Director of Marketing to analyze email marketing campaigns and identify opportunities for improvement
+ Ensure all email campaigns comply with current email best practices in the industry
+ Push creative boundaries to meaningfully and effectively engage with the busy, distracted target audience of adult students
+ Performs other duties as assigned which may arise from the changing and evolving nature of SDSU Global Campus marketing activities.
Knowledge & Abilities
+ Experience working and building within an email marketing platform is required.
+ Hands-on experience with HTML.
+ Excellent written communication and copywriting skills
+ Strong project management skills
+ An ability to work independently and collaboratively under tight deadlines
+ Ability to effectively use web technology to achieve communication goals
+ Ability to autonomously design and execute strategies for student and agency communications
+ Ability to exercise exceptional judgment and discretion with marketing and recruiting correspondence
+ Equivalent to a bachelors degree, which includes relevant coursework in the field
+ Three years of professional experience in CRM/email or related experience
