Otter Products is looking for a Mechanical Engineer to join our team. This role can be based in Fort Collins, CO or San Diego, CA with the ability to work on a hybrid schedule up to a few days a week.
As a Mechanical Engineer, you will support engineering and product development initiatives by using creative problem solving skills to generate the innovative products that our customers have grown to love.

+ Design innovative, premium protective solutions for consumer electronics in the time frame allowed
+ Ensure that new products meet all internal, customer, and regulatory requirements
+ Progress from ambiguity (e.g., a rough sketch) to solidified concept with minimum supervision
+ Leverage existing design standards to develop parts and assemblies in SolidWorks optimized for injection molding and other high-volume manufacturing processes
+ Plan and estimate engineering development tasks including design cycle, prototype fabrication, testing/validation and project documentation
+ Prepare for and participate in design reviews as assigned. Utilize results of reviews to improve part quality, cost, manufacturability and time-to-market
+ Solicit feedback from tooling and manufacturing engineers, applying proper design for manufacturability
+ Interface with cross functional teams and escalate any concerns with the team
+ Ensure time-to-market goals are achieved and stakeholders updated at regular intervals
+ Work with internal and external parties to build and test prototypes/engineering samples.
+ Propose feasible alternatives with sufficient detail to select design direction from among options
+ Must have incredible attention to detail and willingness to take complete ownership of a project
+ Provide feedback on existing standards and ideas for improvement
+ Support and maintain a positive safety culture by following all safety policies and procedures and actively contributing to a safe working environment
+ Other duties as required
+ Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required. Degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred
+ Minimum four years of mechanical engineering design experience required, including two years of SolidWorks experience preferred
+ Experience with injection molding and plastic part design preferred
+ Experience with Sustaining and/or Continuous Improvement activities preferred
