Position Summary :
Assists physician in patient care. Performs receptionist and data entry duties as required. Performs duties in support of the Crozer-Keystone mission to ensure the highest quality of patient care in an economically sound and efficient manner. This position serves all age populations.
+ Pulls and prepares charts for office hours and the following day’s appointments. Ensures charts are complete and prepared on time. Assembles new patient charts according to departmental format.
+ Accurately takes and records vital signs and any pertinent medical information in accordance with accepted guidelines
+ Monitors patient’s condition, as directed by the physician, during all medical/surgical procedures. Immediately reports any change in condition to physician.
+ Prepares patient and room for exam, instructing patient which articles of clothing should be removed and providing them with appropriate gowns, etc
+ Performs laboratory procedures and records test results as instructed by physician. Validates any questionable results by repeating the test and alerting the physician
+ Informs physician immediately of patient test results that are in the “panic range” and/or abnormal results
+ Performs venipuncture, administers injections, administers oral medications, performs other clinical testing i.e., audiography, visual acuity testing, electrocardiography, spirometry, etc.) as instructed by the physician and in accordance with AMA recommended procedures, blood borne pathogen policies, OSHA regulations, CLIA regulations and all other established policies and procedures
+ Notifies patients of all test results as instructed by physician
+ Performs and analyzes quality controls and records results according to office’s established procedures.
+ Performs instrument maintenance as described in the instrument manuals.
+ Triages patient calls, collecting pertinent information.
+ Obtains and verifies demographic and insurance information for all patients. Assists in completing forms and consents as needed
+ Schedules and confirms appointments according to established office procedures.
+ Accurately collects and records all payments received
+ Deposits payments in accordance with CKHN policy
+ Researches and resolves all insurance-related problems as needed.
+ Education and Training:
Graduate of Medical Assistant Program required.
High School Diploma or equivalency required.
Previous physician office experience preferred.
Experience with billing and coding procedures preferred.
Computer experience preferred.
Familiarity with HMO and third party requirements preferred.
Registration, Licensure and/or Certification:
Medical Assistant Certificate preferred.
