Job Category CNA/LPN/MA Position Medical Assistant / Dermatology - RVBD Req Code 14109 Location Skagit Regional Clinics - Riverbend Job Summary Coordinates and facilitates daily practice activities for assigned provider. Essential Functions Maintains patient flow by placing patients in rooms, taking brief histories and vital signs. Reviews current problems with patient. Obtains pertinent past medical history, allergies and medications. Regularly conducts chart prep in advance of the patient visit to ensure that needed reports and documents are available. Maintains workstation and exam rooms in an orderly manner. Maintains a working knowledge of medication frequently utilized, researching any medication not familiar with, prior to administration to patient. Develops a familiarization of brand/generic medication names. Directs patient calls according to the physician?s schedule and the patient?s needs. Maintains familiarity with all forms and paperwork utilized throughout the clinic. Assists with and performs procedures as requested by provider. Adequately stocks exam rooms with supplies, ordering additional supplies as needed. Reviews charge slips for ICD-9 codes and notation of service given by provider. Makes physician aware of lab results, x-ray reports and reports of other tests ordered. Proficient in the use of Nextgen EPM and EMR. Regularly abstracts data from the paper chart to ensure that the electronic record is complete and accurate. Contacts pharmacy for medication refills for patients as needed. Promptly responds to codes. Contributes to a smooth work flow by helping team members as needed. Assists other providers as needed for the best patient flow. Attends all mandatory meetings and in-services provided and broadens professional knowledge by attending outside classes of association with professional specialty organizations. Complies with all SVH Policies and Procedures. Performs other duties as assigned. Education Graduate of an accredited MA program. Experience/Training Previous practice assistant experience preferred. License/Certification Current Washington State Medical Assistant - Certified (MA-C) . Current American Heart Association (AHA) Healthcare provider BLS required. Other Qualifications Excellent interpersonal communication skills required. Strong organizational skills and technical proficiency. Ability to think independently and follow through a must. Proficient in use of Microsoft Office. Good understanding of community resources. Bilingual Spanish/English preferred.
