Job Description


Position is on the research staff of a not-for-profit government consulting organization headquartered in Tysons, VA.

Responsible for conducting studies and analyses on a variety of topics relating to environmental management and planning. Work focuses on helping government clients in program planning and management; regulatory compliance, policy and guidance development, environmental management systems, and information management. Program areas include planning, sustainability, biology, geology, water, air, hazardous materials and waste, and environmental compliance.


This position will be responsible for assisting a federal agencies execute their environmental programs and help comply with environmental laws and regulations, such as the Endangered Species Act (ESA), National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA), National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), Clean Air Act (CAA), Clean Water Act (CWA), and the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA). The SME shall have strong communication skills, a demonstrated ability to deliver "innovative solutions", sound understanding of environmental laws and processes, and possess the skill of "creative problem solving". Responsible for effectively and efficiently communicating with sponsoring government officials.


* 3-6 years' experience in environmental compliance and planning, sustainability, and policy development.

* Demonstrated ability to effectively work in both a team environment and an independent setting.

* Experience in one or more of the following areas:







* Development and implementation of environmental-related training programs

* Familiarity in one or more of the following areas:

* MSOutlook, MSWord, MSExcel, MSPowerPoint, and ArcGIS

* Strong problem solving and analytical skills essential. Must be self-directed and detail oriented.

* Superior written and verbal communication skills. Publications list or writing samples will be requested.

* Ability to contribute to a professional work environment by demonstrating integrity, promoting teamwork and fostering positive communication. Ability to develop and maintain professional relationships in LMI's multidisciplinary environment.

* Ability to maintain absolute confidentiality in all business matters required.

* Ability to obtain and maintain security clearance is required

* Bachelors degree in environmental science, biology, environmental engineering, or related discipline.

* Occasional travel may be required.
