We are looking for an analytical Rockstar to join our fast-paced and highly talented Freddie Mac Multifamily Underwriting team. As a Multifamily Underwriting Manager, you will manage the pipeline of SBL loans in underwriting, evaluate proposed loans for credit risk, negotiate loan structure where appropriate and exercise loan approval authority. You will also be responsible for direct management, mentoring & training of experienced underwriting staff of approximately five individuals based out of Dallas. This includes evaluating the overall story, making decisions on the credit risk profile. We're looking for someone who is whip-smart, an expert in commercial underwriting, and ready to hustle. Your work falls into three primary categories:

Management

* Manage and monitor pipeline of deals in underwriting stages. Pipeline management will require extensive updates and communication with external and internal customers

* Manage and mentor a team of up to 6 Underwriting staff in person and remotely utilizing excellent interpersonal skills that encourage team cooperation, promote enthusiasm, and both demonstrate and motivate strategic thinking

* Provide guidance to subordinates within the latitude of established company policies while assuring adherence to budgets, schedules, work plans, and performance requirements

* Receive assignments in the form of objectives and determines how to use resources to meet schedules and goals

* Complete tasks under a deadline and handling large volume of loan request

* Recommend changes to policies and establishing procedures that affect immediate organization's operation

Analysis

* Apply in-depth knowledge of South Central region, SBL marketplace and Freddie Mac to ensure loans qualify under program credit requirements

* Review and ensure concise, complete, and transparent Investment Briefs and ensure accurate data quality for loan securitization

* Opine and conclude on unique SBL pro forma property financial statement considerations, resolve transactional issues that escalate in third party report, work with Producers to structure deals, review of borrower financial position, market analysis, property inspections, present deals for approval as needed

* Minimize major audit findings; promptly identify and successfully resolve operational issues and participating in providing reporting and management feedback on these activities

* Keep abreast of market changes and product enhancements needed to remain current and competitive

Customer Communication

* Collaborate with external customers, internal business partners, such as loan producers and legal counsel, and the leadership team to achieve shared success

* Work closely with SBL Seller/Servicers to maximize efficiency and transparency in the Prior Approval model

* Typically has a Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience

* Minimum of 8+ years of Multifamily underwriting experience

* GSE lending experience

* Small balance MF loan knowledge

* South Central real estate knowledge

* Excellent communication and presentation skills

* Position requires travel approximately 10% of time

* Graduate degree in Real Estate and/or Finance

* Ability to innovate and think outside of the box

* Strong network of commercial real estate lending contacts
