The PeriAnesthesia Registered Nurse is an essential member of the multidisciplinary patient care team and practice involves critical thinking, clinical decision making and inquiry. The scope of care involves the cultural, developmental and age-specific assessment, diagnosis, intervention and evaluation of individuals within the perianesthesia continuum and promotion of an environment of quality care to a diverse population. The continuum includes preadmission, day of surgery/ preop, PACU (post anesthesia care unit/ recovery) and Phase II recovery of the surgical patient. The nurse in this role will focus on physical, psychological, sociocultural and spiritual care of the patient and will provide education and interventions to optimize outcomes. There is a call component to this position and required response time is 45 minutes.
+ Associates Degree in Nursing required
+ Valid State of Maine RN license
+ ACLS/BLS/PALS certification required
+ 1-3 years previous nursing experience preferred
+ Previous experience in Surgical Services preferred
