JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
The Mathematics Department in the Eberly College of Science has up to three vacancies available for an Undergraduate Research Assistant. The selected candidate will work in interdisciplinary mathematics applied to dynamical systems, game theory and cell biology. The focus of one research study is on group formation as a dynamical system in minority games such as the Kolkota Paise problem. A second study will investigate simulation studies of a non-linear partial differential equation arising from game theoretic models of biology. A third study will focus on the development of mathematical models for cell growth and interactions with potentially focus on cancer cells and the immune system. Research assistants will work with faculty to explore modeling, simulations, and mathematical analysis. Strong skills in mathematics and programming are preferred.
