The Plant Engineer / Maintenance Manager at Kirsh Foundry, Inc. is accountable for optimizing machinery and equipment up time to ensure achievement of operational plans, promotes a maintenance culture of prevention, predictive organization and continuous improvement. The Plant Engineer / Maintenance Manager works to reduce expenses but directs and develops direct reports.

Job Duties:

* Exercise direct and primary supervision over maintenance department activities and personnel involved in installation, maintenance and repair of machines, tools, equipment, electrical systems, mechanical systems, heating/cooling systems, facilities, grounds and structure.

* Play a key role in capital improvements, expansions, building improvements, providing guidance from planning through implementation and ongoing maintenance.

* Propose an annual budget.

* Develop, implement, schedule and complete predictive/preventative maintenance program for all equipment and machinery.

* Creates and maintains relationships with all outside contractors or service providers and arranges for and monitors all work being performed.

* Builds, installs, maintains, and repairs a variety of production and building equipment. Also disassembles equipment to determine extent of necessary repairs.

* Identify and correct unsafe conditions specifically with regard to machine guarding and operations of machinery and plant equipment.

* Work with VP of Operations, Supervisors and Human Resources to maintain and train maintenance staff and other employees as necessary.

* Ensure compliance with OSHA standards in regards to silica, machine guarding, foundry cleanliness, and other applicable topics.

* Maintain all maintenance records in the B&L system.

* Maintain an adequate inventory of repair parts to prevent excessive downtime.

* Recommend department staffing levels and schedule work time accordingly (work hours, vacation time, maintaining attendance records). Follow through and document appropriate discipline in accordance with company policies.

* Other duties as assigned.


* Bachelors degree in an applicable field preferred. Will consider high school diploma with 10 years of related experience in lieu of a degree.

* Must have 7+ years maintenance experience in a heavy equipment manufacturing facility.

* Must have 5+ years formally supervising/managing others. Demonstrated effectiveness developing talent/team is desired.

* Mechanical/Electrical licensing or certification.

* Formal S.P.C training.

* Experience formally training others is required (LOTO, forklift, etc.). Experience directing or participating in safety program is a plus.

* Proficiency with MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) required. Odyssey/B&L experience is a plus.

* Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, supervisors, clients, customers, etc.

* Must be detail oriented and able to work accurately while meeting goals and deadlines.

Work Environment/Physical Demands:

* Indoors and outdoors (all weather - extreme hot and cold)

* Loud noise - (hearing protection required)

* Possible chemical hazards.

* Working at different heights.

* Possible physical hazards.

* Lifiting up to 100 lbs.

* Standing, sitting, walking, climbing, bending, reaching, pulling, stooping.

* Willing to flex work hours based on operational demand.
