Challenge Manufacturing Company is searching for experienced Press Maintenance and Repair team members on 1st and 3rd shift to support Press Operations at our Black River Stamping & Automation facility in Holland, MI. Our Press Maintenance and Repair team members perform a wide range of skilled repair/assembly and cleaning operations to build/rebuild both component parts for metal stamping presses. They must produce quality products in timely manner; perform operations according to customer needs; following blueprints and other written and verbal specifications.
Plans, rebuilds and assembles unique large manufacturing equipment from component parts, in accordance with standard operating procedures to customer specifications
Read, interpret and follow basic blueprints, diagrams, engineering drawings, specifications, bill of materials, and other written instructions.
Perform quality work checks to ensure the product meets quality standards
Verifies conformance of parts to stock list and blueprints, using measuring instruments, such as calipers, gauges and micrometers.
Disassembly and reassembly of industrial and sub-assemblies. This includes fitting, scraping, grinding, and painting.
Install lubrication blocks, lines and general plumbing (pneumatics, hydraulics & other).
Perform quality work checks to insure the product meets quality standards, using in process inspection tools and devices.
Mounting and connects auxiliary, mechanical, electrical, electronic, pneumatic or hydraulic equipment; cuts and fits pipe and tubing
Removes small quantities of metal, using hand files or portable grinders, to clean parts or to produce close fit between parts
Drills, taps, or reams holes, using drill press or portable drill
Aligns components, and bolts, screws, or rivets them together, using hand tools or portable powered tools.
Install moving parts, such as shafts, levers, or bearings, and work them to test free movement.
Bend and install pipe for hydraulic systems.
Align and mesh gears in gearbox to assemble system of gears.
High School Graduate or equivalent required, college course work or two-year technical degree preferred
Three years? maintenance and/or repair work experience on metal stamping presses strongly preferred. At a minimum, candidates should have maintenance and repair experience with shakers, feeders, straighteners, and/or uncoiling equipment
Computer literacy required including MS Office applications
Ability to verbally communicate with team members, supervisors and Engineers
Possess the physical strength and ability to safely handle heavy equipment and tools
Ability to work in tight spaces and able to work with positive pressure hood
Ability to bend tubing, lube, hydraulic and pneumatic
Able to work with solvents and paint
