Job summary


Are you interested about ensuring application resiliency on AWS? The AWS Resilience Hub team is looking for a passionate and innovative design leader who will guide our design efforts in this critical field.


About you


You are an experienced, senior design leader with deep experience driving human centered design processes to simplify complicated and painful customer tasks and activities in data science and machine learning. You feel at home leading and working in a diverse, multi-disciplinary design team that collaborates closely with scientists, product managers and engineers.


You have deep knowledge and practical experience in all aspects of UX design for software applications, from user research and idea generation to interaction design and functional prototyping. You know how to apply HCI concepts and HFE approaches to tackle difficult usability challenges for customers. You have big ideas and have a strong track record of achieving stakeholder buy-in to get those ideas executed. You're a strong design storyteller and are comfortable using data to make a case for critical UX decisions.

Responsibilities


We need a creative and customer-obsessed Principal UX Designer lead the overall customer experience for AWS Resilience Hub.


You’re an expert on process and methodologies that drive the creation of fundamentally usable applications. You’ll be responsible for initiating and leading significant design efforts. You will be defining the architecture of strategic functionality on the Resilience Hub. You will provide hand-on execution for critical direction-setting deliverables like information architecture, user scenarios, customer journeys and workflow diagrams, while providing guidance to other designers on the creation of detailed UX deliverables.


+ Defining product experiences that empower and delight a wide range of personas working with code, data, and machine learning models


+ Help an expanding UX team develop a comprehensive design vision, approach, and strategy


+ Lead design projects through all phases - from user research and exploratory prototypes to design reviews, delivery, and usability testing.


+ Collaborate and communicate effectively within cross-functional teams that span design, product, engineering, and management.


+ Conduct and drive design reviews with a range of senior stakeholders across the organization.


BASIC QUALIFICATIONS


+ 15+ years of experience as a user experience designer, product designer, interaction designer, or similar role


+ Master's degree in design, human-computer interaction (HCI), or equivalent professional experience


+ An online portfolio or samples of work demonstrating user-centered design solutions with measurable outcomes


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS


+ Prior working experience in a tech domain or a complex problem space


+ Ability to present work using functional prototypes built with Figma or Sketch


+ Interaction design expertise demonstrated through detailed user workflow diagrams, customer journey maps, information architecture or similar deliverables.


+ Practical knowledge of user-centered design methodologies, usability principles, and HCI concepts.


+ Proven ability to work cross-team and synthesize feedback and input from business leaders, product management, and engineering


+ Capacity to own and lead the design process by independently defining requirements, scoping projects and prioritizing tasks


+ Experience defining, building, and maintaining design systems that span multiple products


+ Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate design concepts appropriately to different audiences and varying levels of the organization.


+ Experience designing for accessibility and inclusivity


+ Deep experience in a wide range of qualitative and quantitative user research methodologies.
