Job Summary


Responsible for planning and designing new software and web applications. Analyzes, tests and assists with the integration of new applications. Oversees the documentation of all development activity. Trains non-technical personnel. Assists with tracking performance metrics. Provides guidance and support to other Engineers. Integrates knowledge of business and functional priorities. Acts as a key contributor in a complex and crucial environment. May lead teams or projects and shares expertise.

The Comcast Network and CONNECTivity (CONNECT) organization is a highly agile, fast-paced, dedicated group at the forefront of change focused on innovating, building, and operating the best in class, most reliable access network for our customers.


About the Team / Role:


As an iOS Swift Software Developer, you will be part of the OpTek Mobile development team responsible for a suite of iOS applications that is used by 20,000+ Comcast Field Technicians to diagnose and repair issues within the Access Network that impact our customers. Your responsibilities will span the entire product life cycle, from requirements gathering, to design/development, to deployment, QA support, and operations support.


Core Responsibilities


+ Collaborates with project stakeholders to identify product and technical requirements. Conducts analysis to determine integration needs.


+ Designs new software, supports applications under development and customizes current applications. Develops software update process for existing applications. Assists in the roll-out of software releases.


+ Oversees the researching, writing and editing of documentation and technical requirements, including evaluation plans, test results, technical manuals and formal recommendations and reports.


+ Keeps current with technological developments within the industry. Monitors and evaluates competitive applications and products. Reviews literature, patents and current practices relevant to the solution of assigned projects.


+ Provides technical leadership throughout the design process and guidance with regards to practices, procedures and techniques. Serves as a guide and mentor for junior level Software Development Engineers.


+ Assists in tracking and evaluating performance metrics. Ensures team delivers software on time, to specification and within budget.


+ Works with Quality Assurance team to determine if applications fit specification and technical requirements.


+ Displays expertise in knowledge of SDLC methodologies, concepts and skills and their application in the area of specified engineering specialty.


+ Displays expertise in process design and redesign skills. Presents and defends architectural, design and technical choices to internal audiences.


Preferred Skills:


+ Experience with AWS is a plus!


+ Experience developing shareable components using SwiftUI


Additional Experience We're Looking For:


+ Proficient in Swift and Cocoa Touch


+ Knowledge of Apple's design principles and application interface guidelines


+ Fundamental understanding of networking (HTTP, web sockets, caching, etc.)


+ Experience building and consuming RESTful services


+ Experience driving adoption of software engineering best practices within your team


+ Proficient in code versioning tools such as GitHub


+ Knowledge of C-based libraries


+ Familiarity with push notifications, APIs, and cloud messaging


+ Experience working with an app that integrates with several internal mobile libraries


+ Experience maintaining Continuous Integration and Deployment pipelines or workflows


Leadership:


+ Ability to effectively communicate technical challenges and solutions


+ Ability to solve ambiguous or undefined problems


+ Technical leadership throughout the design, development, testing and deployment processes of core iOS libraries and guidance with regards to practices, procedures and techniques


+ Presentation and advocating for architectural, design, and technical choices to internal and external audiences


+ Serving as a coach and mentor for junior- and mid-level Software Development Engineers


+ Collaboration


+ Eagerness for learning and adapting to new technologies


+ A strong sense of ownership and responsibility for code quality that follows standard methodologies


+ Collaboration with project stakeholders to identify product and technical requirements, conducting analysis to settle integration needs

Salary:


Pay Range: $138,932.26 - $208,398.38


Comcast intends to offer the selected candidate base pay within this range, dependent on job-related, non-discriminatory factors such as experience.
