Job Description:

The Production Manager plans, directs, and coordinates the activities of the roofing production department. Ensures that production goals or objectives of projects are accomplished within prescribed time frame and funding parameters. Establishes goals and objectives of roofing operations personnel in compliance with policies, safety practices and overall mission of the Michigan City plant. Oversees the operation of the production line utilizing continuous improvement principles and methods while promoting participation management. Creates and institutes training and development programs of direct personnel and provides guidance to staff regarding training and development of indirect hourly operations personnel.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following: (other duties may be assigned)

Plans, organizes and coordinates production activities to meet set targets and goals. Hires, trains, reviews, supervises and evaluates the work of assigned personnel; promotes, disciplines and terminates personnel in accordance with the established policies and procedures. Informs staff of current project developments on a regular basis. Assists Production Supervisor in providing clear, concise, and timely communication. Prepares and submits regular reports relating to the production function to upper management. Schedules, conducts or attends meetings related to production topics. Schedules and coordinates the work assignments and workflow of staff. Oversees the fulfillment of established quality standards.


Ability to correctly diagnose production needs relative to staffing, training, equipment and duration. Write reports, business correspondence and procedure guidelines. Read analyze and interpret general correspondence or printed material relative to the production function. Manage competing priorities and multiple assignments under tight deadlines. Work successfully in a fast paced environment with changing priorities.

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Bachelors degree in Engineering or related field.

Four to six years experience in a manufacturing environment.

Two years experience in a supervisory level position.
