Job Description

Position Description:

This position requires a person who has well rounded knowledge of television systems including transmission, video, audio and control systems workflow. Person must also have a strong understanding of computer networking environments and the capability of troubleshooting across them. This individual will be part of the technical support for NBA broadcast and retrieval systems as well as broadband creation. Person will also support the post production environment and must be able to act independently and make reasonable and cognitive decisions.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Interact with and support Production, IT and Operations Staff
  • Support NBA Remotes such as World Feeds and Press Conferences
  • Manage system automation (Sundance)
  • Support and manage non-linear recording devices
  • Check-in all inbound and outbound feeds for technical continuity
  • Detailed technical reports
  • Arena Network (HSAN) support including remote troubleshooting and the ability to lead remote technicians to resolution
  • Minor equipment repairs (cables, PC board replacement, etc.)


Required Experience & Knowledge:

  • Must have a strong knowledge of video compression and transport systems and technology
  • Must have strong knowledge of broadcast systems and operations and possess the ability to assemble and operate studio, post and on-air production systems
  • Knowledge and ability to handle systems routing, quality control issues, and variations in production requirements
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and creatively
  • Willingness to accept shift and weekend assignments
  • Experience with HD broadcasts and knowledge of HD systems
  • 2 - 4 years of technical engineering experience


Educational Background Required:

  • College degree in Communications/Engineering or related field required
  • In lieu of a college degree, significant field or studio experience will be considered
