The GBSD (Ground Based Strategic Deterrent) team at Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) is looking for you to join our team as a Proposal Systems Engineer based out of Redondo Beach.

What Youll get to Do:

Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking Systems Engineers to join a team designing and building advanced, state-of-the-art systems at our Space Park location. Our team supports multiple operating units within Mission Systems at this location, where we are an integral part in the development and maintenance of software systems in a variety of mission areas including air defense C2, mission planning and execution, battle management, command/control and mission management, protected satcom and embedded software, and integrated ground systems. Candidates should possess excellent written and verbal communication skills. They should project a friendly, positive attitude and works cooperatively in a multi-faceted environment; as well as exhibiting an ability and desire to self-educate.

The initial role of the selected candidate would be to support a proposal effort for next phase of a large scale development program. The proposal effort is estimated to be ~1 year, which would then be followed by a SE position either on the program or a related IRAD.

Roles and responsibilities can include:

  • Compiles cost, schedule, and technical SE products that support the proposal in accordance with request for proposal (RFP) specifications.

  • Coordinates with functional departments the collection and accumulation of cost, scheduling, and performance data from other programs.

  • Researches and analyzes historical data, develops cost models to support proposal efforts.

  • Participates in fact-finding meetings and represents SE in proposal stand-up meetings

  • Participates in should-cost and pricing reviews with management and functional representatives.

  • Coordination and or generation of task descriptions (TDs) and associated basis of estimates (BOEs)

  • Application of systems engineering processes to develop systems that meet customer requirements
  • Execution of trade studies to select from among multiple potential solutions
  • Management of requirements, include decomposition, allocation, verification, and validation
  • System modeling and simulation
  • Architecture, OPSCON, and use case development using model-based systems engineering methodologies
  • Database development, management, maintenance
  • Perform technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems.
  • Perform analyses at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, and test.
  • Ensure the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints.
  • Perform functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications. Perform Systems Requirements analysis
  • Requirements database development, management, maintenance experience (e.g. DOORS, Requisite Pro)
    In addition, the successful candidate must have the following skills:
  • Ability to function in multi-disciplinary team-oriented environment and rapidly adapt to changing work priorities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Youll Bring These Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline with 9 years of Engineering experience, or Masters in STEM discipline with 7 years of Engineering experience, or PhD with 5 years of experience.
  • Experience writing software or system requirements for sensors (EO/IR, radar, etc.), ground systems, mission planning, avionics or related systems
  • Experience with requirements database development, management, maintenance experience (e.g. DOORS, Requisite Pro), Trade Studies analysis/development
  • Experience with MS Windows applications and proficient in the use of MS Office software
  • Experience in being part of proposal teams.
  • Active DoD Secret security clearance with a recent ( 5 years) investigation completion date.

These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:

  • Experience with software prototype development
  • Experience with writing interface definitions
  • Experience with CAMEO engineering tool
  • Experience with developing missile defense systems
  • Active DoD Top Secret or SCI access
